ATTN: DOUG
I was in the Lockport location yesterday with a friend looking to purchase a specific item in sporting goods. I believe I dealt with Sam. I offered to make a partial payment on an item that according to Sam was out of stock but "on the truck for delivery this week". I wanted to make sure that I was able to keep a place in line for the item. In fact I was particularly eager to do this as Sam indicated that he was also wanted this particular item. Well Sam told me that I could not give Runnings a down payment because "we don't do that here". His overall demeanor in general was dismissive in my opinion.
So today I called there to check the status and to see if my name was "on the list" and I was told that there were people already in front of me for the same item. Furthermore I was asked if I put any money down on the item to hold the item. I did not because I was told I could not. This is upsetting. Furthermore it leads me to speculate that perhaps there is less of a list and maybe more of a buddy system.
Here is my problem: I have a sick child and I am doing all that I can to stay healthy and limit public interaction. I don't think that I am special.. I'm just shopping for the benefit of my family during this uncertain time. It is situations like this and representative like him that make it difficult to trust that stores actually care about any type of customer service anymore.
So this is my experience.. you can shop where you want to but I know that me and my family won't be going to Runnings anytime soon. Well... I MIGHT make an exception for their 'Goin Out of Business' sale...
Read moreWent to runnings tonight to pick up a bag of feed for my mare and foal. Unfortunately it’s not often in stock at other stores. I had a manufacturer’s coupon from Nutrena for $25 off a bag of any Safechoice, Empower or Proforce feed. I was buying Nutrena Mare and Foal. I thought maybe I’d pick up another bag of horse feed (Proforce) but both bags on the shelf had large holes in the bottom and grain was spilling out. There were other bags from other manufacturers that looked like this as well. Went to the cashier and she said she’d need a manager to complete the transaction because she didn’t know how to use the coupon or if she could even accept it. I told her we’ve used the coupon there before with no problems. Manager came up and said that he couldn’t accept the coupon because the food cost was $24.99 and the coupon was for $25.00. I asked couldn’t the coupon just be adjusted to the value of the bag of food? No. Wouldn’t accept it and he said that whoever accepted the coupon before must have done something they shouldn’t have. I left without purchasing the food. Went down the road to Tractor supply and they took the coupon no problem, even as the price was the same as it is at Runnings ($24.99). Really disappointed as I ended up having to buy a different type of Safechoice to feed my mare and her baby rather than what they normally get. I’ve been unhappy with runnings’ customer service in the past but I’m not usually one to say anything. This solidified my choice in sticking with...
Read moreI purchased a bolt action .22 cal rifle to shoot with my son about 6 weeks ago. We brought the rifle home and we're having a really hard time getting the bolt to feed ammo ..basically had to force the bolt closed ..I called Lockport runnings where I purchased it from and they told me I was basically stuck with the gun and nothing he could do about it. He told me to try forcing different brands of ammo through it to see what that does. I grabbed a bunch of different ammo from gun safe and started forcing it through and probably the 4th one the gun exploded in my hands..it blew the magazine apart out of the bottom of gun and my right hand was black from the powder going off. Luckily I was more or less shooting from the Hip because I knew it wasn't right. I took gun back to runnings in Lockport and manager kinda just blew it off and said he could send it in and see what manufacturer says..6 weeks later haven't heard a thing and when I call i get transferred to gun department and nobody answers.I guess I'm just happy my son wasn't shooting it when it blew apart. I'm pretty sure if one of my fingers was under the magazine it would have been a mess. I'm to the point now where I'll probably just go to wal mart and get him something different ..at least they have some kind of customer service program. I'm not sure how I'm going to go about getting this runnings .22 unregistered and...
