I've visited this place twice and my review is based on both of my visits there. I did feel like the store was clean and well maintained. There are 2 TVs over the manicure/pedicure stations, which I think is a nice touch.
I'm in New Paltz from out of town over the weekend - I broke a nail at the airport and stopped here to have it fixed (just a single nail, SNS). They were able to take care of it for me and it does look good. I wanted them to add a tip on my nail so it would match the length of the others, but the girl doing my nails ignored my requests. Not wanting to push it (it was 30 minutes before closing), I just decided to not worry about it. They finished my nail in about 10 minutes, easy peasy.
One thing to keep in mind - they have a minimum $15 purchase for a credit card.
Since my nail repair was only $5, I also bought a $10 gift card with the hope of finding a few minutes the next day to come in for a pedicure.
The next day, again, I was busy and came in about 40 minutes before they closed (they close at 7pm on Saturdays). I asked if they could accommodate a gel pedicure for me, even though it was 6:20. They said that was fine, to pick my color, and to sit in one of the chairs. Unfortunately, that's where the good service stopped. Rather than tell me they wouldn't have time for a gel pedicure, they rushed my entire service. Multiple times during the pedi, I was told that they close at 7 (by the same person who helped me the night before - she took off my old gel polish). I felt rushed and like I was an inconvenience.
I really liked the girl who did my actual pedicure, I just wish she'd been able to take a bit more time with me. Even during the last 10 minutes of my service, one of the owners/managers was standing over her shoulder, loitering there while she finished up. I feel like he was pressuring her for time.
(and, after all that, I noticed back at my hotel that my nails were still tacky on the gel surface because the girl didn't take enough time with the alcohol wipes to remove it)
Lesson learned. Don't even try to get a longer service during the last hour they're open. I just wish they'd just tell people that instead of letting them come in and...
Read moreI really wanted my toenails and eyebrows done after being on a plane from Texas to New York. I just wanted a couple of hours to get back to myself and feel nice after traveling with 2 young kids. I've not been to this nail place in over a decade since I moved from New York, but coming back to Polished Nails was a bummer. Before we walked in, we got a call from Polished Nails asking if we're still coming. I do understand that it was the 4th of July and I'm sure others were wanting to get pampered, too; however, we came with my 7 year old daughter, 6 year old son, and 1 1/2 year old nephew. My daughter had a pedicure. She sat quietly the entire time. My son and my nephew were also well-behaved. They were sitting in the lobby watching something on an iPad. It still felt as though we were an annoyance. Right after my sister was done with her manicure, she pointed towards my daughter and I, which is when I saw one of the male workers put his hands in the air and his head back as if frustrated. I was dismayed after that because we tipped and paid in full despite the awkward interaction. My parents are deaf, I grew up signing. I understand gestures more than you may think, but I think anyone would have gotten that one. It was embarrassing. Still, I was conversing with my mother in sign language and we were being stared at. I'm sure I looked mad, but I was shocked at what I just saw. I was also trying to explain to my mom what happened. As we were getting ready to pay, the female worker asked if we would tip. Twice we did, but if you have to be so bold as to overcharge and make rude gestures, we just won't come back. Not only is everything bigger in Texas, kindness is not lost on them! I hope y'all stop gaslighting others on their reviews of your business and be accountable. Most of your reviews are not great.
P.S. My sister's chrome Nails are...
Read moreJames is fantastic. If you can book with him, do! He cut my cuticles back spectacularly, which is something I feel like a lot of people leave lackluster. I just got an acrylic fill and repaint from him today (ghost nails). The lemon nails I believe were also done by him in 2022. He is great at details and following photos! James also knows enough English that it is fairly easy to communicate. 5 stars. The fall themed nails I had done a couple weeks ago by a gentleman who is probably in his 40s, not sure his name. His English was significantly more limited, so it was hard to explain things to him. I brought a picture where I had drawn out exactly what I wanted. Without the picture, I don’t think I could have communicated it to him. He also shaped some of my nails unevenly, which was bothersome. 3 stars. The Christmas nails were done by a woman in 2022, again, not sure her name. They were done perfectly from the drawing I brought in, and she was so excited to be doing them! Having a nail artist be excited to do a design always makes the experience more...
