This place is really for students who are serious about their grades. If you don't want to be pushed to actually give your 100% into studying and working hard, then you should look elsewhere. Will they get you to improve your grades if you don't give it your all? Of course not, they're an Academy, not a miracle worker. But from what I've seen and experienced, if you work hard, their aid synergies with your own studies, helping you achieve more than you can on your own.

If they are "mean" to you, it means that they haven't given up on you yet. You/your child may not exactly have a "fun" time, but why would you go to a prep academy if the focus is fun? That's not to say that this academy is a soul-sucking hole of despair. Some teachers and office workers really care if the kids have a decent time and try to balance the work load with attempts at light-hearted comedy.
All in all, I would recommend this place to people who are serious about getting better. The administration is experienced, the teachers are knowledgeable, and the work is hard. But I really think it helps people get where...
Read moreI don't know how I would have gotten through high school without Brown Academy. Mr. and Mrs. Kim, while strict, always have the student's best interest in mind. They push the students to be the best academically. All of their classes, ranging from the SAT prep to the Physics review, were instrumental in helping me get accepted into top colleges. In addition, Mr. and Mrs. Kim are without doubt the most well informed people on the inner workings of Long Island high schools. They can and will advise on topics such as which classes to take or which are the best teachers. They have accumulated this information from their many years of running Brown Academy. Every year, Brown Academy students are accepted into some of the top colleges in the U.S. The first thing you see when you enter Brown Academy is the "Wall of Fame", where the wall is covered with the names of students who have been accepted into various prestigious colleges. Going to Brown Academy may not seem fun right now, but after you have been accepted into your top college choices, you will be thankful that you had the wisdom to attend...

Both of tem have been an amazing mentor throughout my middle and HighSchool years. They provided me work that would boost my grades in school, which it did. Also, when I walked in here and saw many of my friends from school coming here. So I felt welcomed. Teachers there are amazing. They will thoroughly teach you material that you don't understand and prepare you for exams for school. You will only realize that Brown is an amazing place once you come...
