Wish I could say, wow, great establishment BUT, that’s not the case. To make a very long story short, my sister in law came in from Michigan to look for a gown for her daughter’s wedding. My daughter and I both got our gowns for my daughter’s wedding at Mieka 3 years ago (no my daughter didn’t wear a traditional gown, and yes, her gown was beautiful ). My sister in law found her perfect gown at Mieka. Fast forward 2 months. I picked up the gown to bring to Michigan for the bridal shower and much to my surprise/ shock the beading on the gown was totally different than the sample. The saleswoman’s reply… that’s the way the designer is doing it now, going on and on how beautiful it looked. After a few FaceTime calls to show it to my sister in law I ended up taking the gown with me. Many phone calls later and many attempts to get some resolve, my sister in law finally spoke with Kenny, the owner. He was going to send replacement beads and would not under any circumstances overnight them to her. According to him, he wasn’t going to spend $100 for overnight delivery. In the end, what he sent was a joke . Must have gone to the local craft store to buy beads that didn’t come close to matching what was on the gown. None of this should have occurred. As soon as the store received the gown from the designer and the difference was clearly visible, my sister in law should have been notified. It should have been her decision from the start as to what should be done. The owners’ excuse for an attempt to resolve the situation was beyond inexcusable. I would never shop here again. There aren plenty of places that carry the same designers. Their customer service is terrible, their attitude and lack of any sense of concern is deplorable. I was embarrassed by their lack of real concern and saddened that my sister in law had to go through this unnecessarily and unpleasant experience. In response to the owners reply… lovely words, too bad actions speak louder. Bottom line, the gown came in totally different than ordered and my sister in law was not treated in a courteous and professional way. The initial onus is on the designer, the store should have been told he was changing his design. If he did and the store was made aware, the customer should have been told as soon as the gown came in. If not, as soon as it was checked in. My sister in law should have been made aware immediately and not given the run around for a month! Calls should have been returned as promised by the store’s staff and the new beads ( that were not a match in any way) been sent ASAP… not a week before the wedding! Surely the $100 to overnight said beads shouldn’t have been an issue but a courtesy that should have...
Read moreSo here is my review for Mieka. First, why is this mid-70-year-old middle-class schmo from the south shore writing a review for this classy, high-end north shore (Woodbury) dress boutique? Well, my wife who is several years younger than me (I call her my trophy wife, but I would never say that here) deserves garments that match her inner and outer beauty. After some other shopping in the same locale, she entered Mieka on a whim looking for a gown for a formal wedding to attend in March. The sales rack called out to her! The dress consultants, especially Patti, assisted her and were very accommodating. When she tried something on that wasn't just right, Patti would say, "Take that off. I don't like that on you!" Her honesty was welcome and refreshing. She bought the very first gown Patti put on her - it is a knockout! Angela, the Mieka seamstress, took over and magically altered the gown to custom fit her. Angela is a super-talented creative artist! Since buying that gown, my wife also purchased a jumpsuit and a two-piece white & silver knit "temple" suit for our grandson's Bar Mitzvah this summer. And then... Lisa topped things off with one-of-a-kind bags that complemented the outfits. I can't say enough about the experience... expansive selection of gowns, dresses, and casual wear, and garment selections at all price levels (especially when on sale thank you), but most importantly the service and personal attention cannot be matched. Thank you to all and to...
Read moreMy nephew is getting married in June and my sister suggested we take a look at the dresses in Mieka. She is almost 6' tall with a great figure. I am a plus size 5'6". Sue found the perfect dress for my sister immediately. I presented more of a challenge but she found it ... or should I say she reinvented it. It was a black sheath dress with a black lace overlay which was short in the front and long in the back. Not such a great style for me. She told me...not to worry, then had me put the dress on backwards to show how it would look with a longer lace front, faked a v neckline, and asked me what I thought. My sister and I knew immediately this was the dress. Marge called the designer to see if Sue's vision could be created and the response was positive. Marge took measurements and, long story short, the dress came in last week and the fit was almost perfect. Marianna, the seamstress, narrowed the skirt, adjusted the hem, and deepened the v neckline. It should be ready for pick-up next week. What an amazing store and staff. If you haven't been there, please go. They not only cater to formal, they also carry an amazing line of...
