My husband and I visited this establishment on Friday, July 19th. We had the complaint about the dog. To reiterate our original complaint, my husband and I, in NO way, were upset that there was a “service animal” in the restaurant. Originally, what was upsetting to us was that the dog, whether it was a service animal, emotional support animal, or a pet, was seated on a barstool chair at the bar. That action alone is completely displeasing to the paying customers dining in at your establishment. However, what is even more distasteful was the response my husband received from the management team at MoCA. The management team responded to my husband stating that due to their investigation and ADA regulations, the dog was a service animal, and apparently because of that fact, was allowed to sit on the hightop barstool at the bar. For your reference, I will attach a photo from the ADA website of what the ADA allows at the end of this review. Per the ADA website, service animals are NOT allowed to be seated on chairs or furniture. The management team was correct that service animals do not need to be vested or have identifiers but to imply the actions, that we saw take place and took pictures of, were per ADA standards is simply not correct. People with service animals know and are fully aware of the rules and regulations of the ADA (as the manager of the establishment should be too). When a customer creates a scene in a restaurant, and demeans the staff that is actually acting in accordance with ADA regulations, to get facetious accommodations, the rights of truly handicapped individuals and their service animals are discredited and diminished. Then, to allow the customer to defy the rules and regulations of not only the ADA but the health department as well, is disrespectful to every other paying customer in your establishment who is entitled to and expecting a clean environment. The manager that allowed this behavior is responsible for the health and safety of all the customers in the restaurant and her behavior was unprofessional to say the least. However, in reference to your response to my husband, our new and primary concern is that in our opinion, the management team is misrepresenting the requirements from the ADA and the health department rules. That conduct is, in my opinion, manipulative and dishonest. I do worry about the "strict protocols" you have in place regarding health and safety as there were gnats and bugs present at our table during our meal. I will take my concerns to the Nassau County Health Department as I think they will be more knowledgeable at this point.
Also this review has nothing to do with our server, which was very nice, polite...
Read moreDon’t ever go here!!!! I’ve been a huge fan of this place for many years and I changed my mind tonight. A friend of mine hosted a happy hour at the bar with 20 business professionals. Everyone was eating and drinking for several hours. Combined our bill was well over $3000. When I asked for my bill I noticed I was charged for five drinks more than I ordered. I politely called the bartenders (Courtney and Jen) over and explained how there was an error. I was being charged $267 at happy hour and while I confirmed the majority of my check, I didn’t drink seven glasses of wine. The bartenders immediately got defensive and told me that people I was with had closed their tab so they charged me. They told me I should’ve told them not to charge me. Is this my job as a customer or their job as bartenders? Why should I be charged? After they refused to credit me for the extra drinks, I left them no tip. (Never done this before in my life). It all went down hill from there! The bartender grabbed my full drink and dumped it down the drain and told me to leave. Simultaneously she started screaming at me and my wife in front of the entire restaurant! The manager did witness everything and refilled my drink, apologized for the behavior of the bartenders but yet I still walked out paying for $100 worth of drinks I never ordered! The right thing to do would be to credit me for those drinks. Perhaps the high cost of rent in Woodbury plays a facto, not to mention the obnoxious staff who doesn’t care about their customers. When all is said and done I still paid the entire bill...hence why I feel it’s appropriate to leave this review! Myself along with the other 20 people who were in attendance tonight will never go back! All I can say if you still choose to go here, pay attention...
Read moreI came MoCA about 3 years ago, and it was ok but started coming to MoCA consistently about a month ago. I have to be honest, I drive by here all the time and I work right across the street, I didn’t even know this place was open. I thought they used to have outdoor dining, I guess not anymore. The food here has always been excellent. But recently, I think they have gotten new staff. The first few times I came in, I ordered takeout, the hostess (I asked if she was new, but she told me she came from a different location) quickly told me about the 20% discount for takeout, lunch specials, delivery options. She literally walked me through every sushi roll (because there’s no descriptions online or on the takeout menu) she took a lot of time to help me pick what I wanted. And I work right across the street, so that’s awesome that they have delivery. I recently started coming and dining in. The first time I came in, the staff was so friendly! The manager, he came by twice to check on me and he even made my drink. The last time I came in, I think the servers were on a break, because my server Jason (sooooo nice! He’s been my server almost every time, he even remembered what I ordered last time) took my order but it was the manager who ended up taking care of me so his staff could have a break. I mean I could not have received better service. He’s the best! I can tell the staff here really cares. And I’ve been in almost 6 times this month, so I like to show love to good places. I always...
