Nice patch of nature here in congested Nassau County. There are 2 trail options which run northward to Stilwell Woods Park.
This Park offers a variety of different natural habitats, as well as varying wildlife.
In the beginning of the trials you will see lots of Wild Cats, which feed upon food. There are 20-50 Wild Cats at this location...
As you continue down the trails, have a fun time spotting a variety of birds, chipmunks, squirells, and insects.
There are lots of animals and critters which scavage around these woods. I even saw a group of deers and a dead raccoon.
The trails are cozy, great for camping out in the woods and sleeping, or maybe just enjoying a decently warm glass of milk, over the smell of rustic pine trees... I ate scrambled eggs underneath a pine tree.
There are only a few Pine trees at this location, toward the middle of the park. I came across many small evergreen trees, but only 4 large Pine Trees. I drank milk underneath them, and I even grated cheese and left it on the floor for the deer to eat.
Overall, this park is cozy, and a great patch of nature for hiking, exploring, biking, and sleeping or eating, to the sweet aroma...
Read moreAmple parking and a few picnic tables in a shady spot. There is also a repair station with air and some tools. The main attraction is the trail. Actually, there are 2. A signpost points to the hiking and biking trails, which are separate. I was on the biking trail. It's single track in many places with lots of curves, so it is possible to "meet" another rider head on. Be careful, wear a helmet and make some noise on curves. There are a few moderate steep spots and lots of tree roots, ruts and rocks. All told an upper mild to moderate technical course. A mountain bike with at least a good front suspension is highly recommended. The park is part of the blue trail that extends south from here as well. Inside the park from the parking lot to its northern end and back was only about a mile and a half or so. I believe it continues north, but I couldn't see where it picked up once I reached Syosset Woodbury Rd. It's supposed to go into Stillwell Woods park. I need to explore a bit more to find where it picks up again. The trail is entirely through the woods under the trees, so it's not bad even on...
Read moreI come here for a walk in wood. I see lots of wild cat near the entrance, this look like a wild pact of small wild cats?? They were sleeping and they were running. Very scary.
Very nice trails, not good for the bicycle, in my option..‘beautiful views of pine trees and other trees. Connects to other trails to the north. I found a small bottle of milk on one of the trails in the woods, I leave it there.
Inside I seen a raccoon, which was a wild raccoon. Be careful. I also see a ticks, and a wild deer family in the wood, running and very scary.. the wild deer, beautiful but it run very scary.
I read my book here, very peaceful and beautiful. The Jericho Turnpike, you can hear it from inside the nature. Overall, beautiful place to escape and go for a beautiful, relaxing walk in...
