Sal's Meat Market — Local services in Town of Oyster Bay

My family has been loyal customers to Sal’s for over 25 years, and after today, we will officially no longer be going back here ever again. It is disappointing to all of us because we would go here for literally everything; deli sandwiches, egg sandwiches, butcher meat for holidays/dinners, hot trays for dinner during the weekdays. However, after countless disappointments time over time, today was the last straw for us. To sum it up, I walked in, stood at the deli line and nobody even acknowledged me for 20 minutes. There’s no system at all. When I finally ordered, a woman who doesn’t speak a lick of English took my order (3 egg sandwiches and 1 deli sandwich with ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato & Mayo). This sandwich is supposed to be cold. When I got the bag and checked what was inside (because lately every order hasn’t been correct), there were 4 hot sandwiches. I opened them all up and the lady put eggs, ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato Mayo all on 1 sandwich, heated up. As I explained this to her, she looked at me with 3 heads because again, she doesn’t speak a LICK of English, then one of the main guys walked over and translated. After an hour trip which should’ve been 20, I got my sandwich and went on my way. Dennis, do better. How do you let this happen? What a s**t show they’re...

I've been a customer of theirs for a few decades. Since it was in the same strip mall as genovese. (That's a throwback ey) it is very rare I'm unhappy. They have awesome chicken and roast beef. They used to have the best rolls and hero i have ever had. Unfortunately they dont make them anymore but the ones they get are still very good. More than acceptable. Their chicken breast is bell and Evan's I'm sure they have others upon request but the b and e is so soft and tender like a cloud. Good. Reading too. The roast beef is out of this world. Theres been litterally like 5x out of 100 that I was unhappy it didnt taste quite right bit as I said not often at all. When it is right almost always it is amazing. Strange but their mayo makes the sandwhi h th hat much better. It tastes better than hellman's. The lettuce the only issue is they leave that stalk in it but other than that it's always super fresh. Tomatoes too. In like 30 years to have been unsatisfied less than a dozen times as opposed to the over.a hundred times I was more than satisfied I would say it's worth it. Done with this place!!! Probably the third or fourth time that I have been left standing at the counter with 9 people working and not one making eye contact with me for over 15 minutes despite me being the only person in the store. The bearded guy is constantly standing at the deli counter working on his laptop- if you need to do that I understand - but try doing it in a back office so you don’t appear to be completely uninterested in actual paying customers. Staff is completely uninterested and it appears as if management is as unapologetic for the complete disinterest in proper customer service. I would have even taken something like” we are real busy sorry for the delay but we will be right with you” rather than there complete indifference. I guess my indifference will be to no longer give them any business- as well spread the word of their consistent arrogant behavior. Sad as I prefer to give local small merchants...
