Ok last week, I saw a movie at the Palisades Mall. The movie was great, seats comfortable, experience good. But very expensive! Yesterday, our local theater, Lafayette in Suffern, had the very latest show presented. Same as the Mall we went online, prepurchased our tickets, a true bargin!Parking excellent, a very short walk into the theater. Snack bar serve by very nice young individuals, very affordable. A very retro step back in time. When you walk in the door, your in a early 1900 palace...you feel very special. Everything is clean, period correct. Once in the theater proper, your amazed by the previous 1900 furnishings, the preservation, the grandure. It's history, your part of the history. It's all preserved, clean, comfortable, your part of the exhibit. Now the movie starts, the light dims, the sound system is modern, booms when required, the screen is huge, visual excellent. The proper experience for the movie. Be a part of history, its tremendously affordable, safe neighborhood, excellent parking, no compromise to experience the effects and sound of the movie. Support our local theater, you won't be disappointed, plus there are numerous restaurants in the area. Have a snack or meal after the movie. Before the next pandemic or worse hits us, get out of your house and off the couch. You'll thank me for this...
Read moreThe theater is gorgeous on the inside and very historic looking. The detailing in the ceiling and arches were beautiful and I spent the time before the movie marveling at how it looked. However, it seems better suited to live performances. I would have preferred to go to a comedy or band performance at this theater as opposed to a movie, but it wasn't too bad. The sound has a little echo effect but otherwise the screen and projector was great. The chairs were pretty uncomfortable and had no where to put your food or drink, but I wouldn't ever hold that against them, because that's not something easy or cheap to swap out, but it's not a deal breaker. If I ever came back up to New York, I would keep an eye out for any live performances at...
Read moreLafayette Theater is always a pleasure to visit. A historical landmark nearly a century old, the theater is a classical, elegant, and nostalgic reminder of how people watched movies. Containing a single screen with a wide open seating arrangement and balcony, chandeliers, and an organ that often features live music before a show, Lafayette Theater helps to elevate whatever movie it is currently showing. The theater has a limited number of showtimes compared to modern multiplexes, but I always prioritize Lafayette whenever I get the opportunity. It's a shame that more people don't take advantage of its offerings. It deserves (and amply earns) all of the support that the...
