Sushi Bada - Suffern NY — Restaurant in Town of Ramapo

1st time coming here. I came here because of the good reviews. We have reservations on a Sat night after 8pm.

There are pros and cons to this place.

We walked inside. The decor was nice and the place was busy and it took just a couple of mins for us to be seated with a reservation. You need a reservation or else it was a 40min wait Sat night. But then we ordered a 5 sushi rolls off the menu. They then brought us soup and salad as we were waiting. Then I cant believe it took 40 whole mins for them to make our sushi. We were seated at 830 and then at 9:15 our food came. There was a couple waiting to be seated and they were told its a 40min wait. We saw that couple get seated 40mins later and that's when our food came to our table. Unbelievable! Then in 20mins we were done eating. we ate quicker then our food service.

I dont like the fact that it took soo long for the sushi and for 40mins our waitress never ever even mentioned anything to us about the food until I had to ask her. Then she told me oh its almost ready. Then a min later it came to our table. Was it sitting out or did she forget about us until she brought it to our table? I have no idea. She was going back and forth and not 1 word from her as to where our food was for 40mins then I grew inpatient and had to ask her...

All the sushi rolls were good and delicious but once we got home. We both got sick. I really wasnt happy about this and I'm pretty sure it was the sushi because we were both fine all day long until we had dinner here. The sushi looked and tasted great. But the salmon skin roll had a really fishy smell and taste.

Summary: I really liked this place alot. The decor was nice. I was happy we were seated within a couple mins after our reservation but I was not happy our food took 40 mins to show up without any word from waitress on anything about our sushi rolls until I had to ask her than she responded by oh its almost ready!!...then to top it all off we both got sick once we got home and were sick throughout the night and into the next day.

Would i come here again? Maybe,...

I went in last week to have dinner with two of my other friends. When I entered, I asked for a table of three. I was sat immediately and given menus. I sat for about 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any server. I tried to call someone over to order a drink, and was ignored. Finally one of my friends joined a bit late because she could not find parking when we called the waiter over and asked if we could order drinks he responded with, “but I thought they were three of you”. We were still waiting on him, so we’re not allowed to order drinks until he gets there? We ordered drinks which took an insane amount of time to come out. Then we ordered some food as I wanted to take our time and not rush everything we ordered a few different courses. The food came out faster than our drinks which is fine. There was only one bartender, but in hindsight, it was just another thing about our service that was not up to par. We order or sushi rolls, which was going to be our last course, and before the Sushi came out, the same person who sat us brought a check over to our table. I informed him that we had just ordered dinner and we’re not ready to pay it since we haven’t even eaten dinner! The restaurant closes at 9:30. After spending nearly $300, at 9:43. The bartender came over and abruptly and rudely told us they were closing and we had to leave. It’s like they don’t care about their customers. We spent a lot of money. It was my first time there and I’ll never go back. We weren’t treated well and then we were kicked out at the end of the night if it were worded differently and if everything else would’ve gone well that night maybe I’ll go back, but I really felt like we were treated like we were a burden for them. Very impressed by this place. The service was extremely attentive. Stepped to the bar to ask a question about a drink I wanted to order but have altered a bit and the bartender (a nice blonde woman) gave her opinion and the manager came by swiftly and gave his suggestion and said he’d take care of making the drink right away. The drink was amazing just wish the glass was a bit taller as there was one huge ice cube clogging up 1/3 of the glass. The food was unreal, came in starving and ordered an appetizer and 3 rolls (they offer a combo roll offer (ex. 2 reg rolls + 1 designer roll) for $28.95) which was extremely satisfying and seemed fair value considering how good and fresh the ingredients were. The waiter was cool and attentive but did somehow mess up my tables checks by switching them and part of my table ending up paying for each others as their payment system somehow malfunctioned right before the card inserted so they should figure out how that happened so it never happens again cuz it was a little crazy. Waiter suggested to refund and redo it and we declined and sorted it ourselves. Had no idea this restaurant existed as I heard from word of mouth. Never seen any marketing for this restaurant and drove by it 100 times without knowing it existed. If I had known I would have been here years ago, perhaps monthly.
