Im no karen and rarely if ever write reviews for anything unless i feel its absolutely necessary for safety reasons. this pertains to the emergency room section of the hospital. I had been dealing with a health issue for 7 months that eventually led to me being transported to this ER by ambulance. My EMTS (Not in connection to NDH) took my case very seriously, assessed & assured me that in my current condition i needed to be sent to an ER because i am not one to make a fuss over minor health issues and go to the ER unless absolutely required. As we made are way with myself almost completely paralyzed in pain on a stretcher inside the very first thing i hear are the doctors and nurses laughing "We got one coming in on medicaid" as if it was a joke. i was put in a backroom and left lying there for aprox 20 mins if not more in this condition before a frantic doctor and nurse with the worst bedside manner i have ever come across come in and basically ask whats the worst thing im feeling at that moment and i said the pain. they injected me with 4mg of morphine which i had a bad reaction to because as soon as they injected me with this i felt as if i was being shot by bullets in all different parts of my body. when i asked them about this they shrugged it off and left me lying there in a completely alert state in extreme pain and unable to move laying on this stretcher in a backroom for hours in the dark all i could do was watch the clock and listen to a nurse talk on and on for hours in another room complaining non stop about petty stupid nonsense and gossip. i looked over at one point during this and realized i was no longer connected to any type of monitor and i could basically conk out again in this bed (as i had done previously on my ride over) and they would have no way of knowing it and they didnt come to check on me either. around 3am-4am they decided they no longer wanted me there and were kicking me out. when i informed them i was still in unbearable pain & barely able to walk and that the medication they provided caused a bizarre reaction and that i didnt sleep at all. i asked how i was gonna be able to leave im under 25 yrs old i have no family or friends to be able to get me or in general and They asked "didnt you drive here?" (same doc and nurse) I told them i did not and that i was transported via ambulance. they injected me with 4mg of morphine and without any sleep, in extreme pain barely able to move or walk and clearly against the law to operate any type of machinery were gonna have me go behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive home at 3am in a horrific thunder storm. HUH! So anyway instead of just kicking me out on the street my medicaid they laughed at me for having provided a taxi to be able to pick me up around 4am. By the morning i was passing out on my bathroom floor barely able to keep conscious or alert. Thanks again for all of your help northern dutchess even though you didnt care one bit about my health or safety i dont wish what i was put through during this ER visit onto anyone even the neglectful, careless doctors and staff i hope never get treated the way i was by them. I hope for your Docs, RNS, Staff when they are scared and unhealthy are put in good care and treated by good doctors better then they...
Read moreAt around 12:40 AM, I had to drive my boyfriend to Northern Dutchess due to chest and body pain after having an asthma attack. The lady at the front desk was really polite and we were seen very quickly. However, as soon as we got into the emergency room, the experience was terrible. One of the heart specialist was very rude to my boyfriend, who has ADHD, when he was struggling to explain what happened during his last hospital visit a YEAR AGO. The doctor continuously used sarcastic remarks towards him and made it seem that, since we are fairly young, we were only there to be prescribed free pharmaceutical drugs rather than just a regular hospital visit about an asthma attack. Whenever we asked questions on whether it was a heart problem, the specialist would dismiss our questions and made it seem as if it were not a big deal, as if my boyfriend couldn't breathe and his blood pressure was extremely high. My boyfriend kept asking for blood tests since he wanted to know what other possibilities there were since he was having other symptoms. But the doctor kept dismissing them basically saying, "Why would you need a blood test when it is just an asthma attack". (He isn't overweight and is fairly healthy, which made it confusing on why his blood pressure was so high. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WERE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS BLOOD PRESSURE WERE THE NURSES.) Once we left, we had to wait over an hour for the appropriate treatment that was needed to help my boyfriends breathing. Additionally, my boyfriend then needed an x-ray which we had to wait another hour as the x-ray specialist was sitting at the desk gossiping about a monument in Mexico and kittens, meanwhile, is less concerned about a patient who cannot breathe. Mind you, there were no other patients on the floor, as it was 3:33 AM at the time. (Although, there was a lady who had the same symptoms as my boyfriend, she arrived 2 hours after us and was taken care of in the span of 15 minutes and discharged.) Overall, we left at around 4 AM with none of our questions answered and were treated with nothing but disrespect from the doctors.
EDIT: The doctors refusal to do a blood test did cause harm because later today when we saw a new and more professional heart specialist, they explained that it was more than just an asthma attack but it was high blood pressure along with many other symptoms that the doctors at Northern Dutchess did not seem to care enough to...
Read moreAs much as I wanted to love this quaint hospital set in Rhinebeck. The individual practices for letâs say pain management or individual doctors is just plain awful . The doctors are good but the administration is lame. If youâre late over 15 minutes for whatever the reason they bounce you to getting a new appointment 6 to 8 weeks later.
Ask front desk to ask The Doctor Who just performed surgery on you if they could just make an exception for the one time being late. Sorry 8 weeks later. Yet when youâre waiting in their office for an hour or more waiting Thatâs OK.
If you need to go to Orthopedic Associates go to the Kingston office to avoid the nasty front desk staff at this place.
The emergency room is decent. However, they donât always have doctors on staff. Sometimes youâre only seen by a Nurse practitioner.
The chief Gastro Dr is literally 500 Pounds. I donât like to discriminate Against overweight people, Since Iâm technically obese, with a 34 Waist. I canât imagine somebody with a I donât know a 140 inch Waist telling me whatâs healthy.
When my wife was pregnant, we were recommended to a doctor here By our friends, that live nearby, and gave Birth there 20 years before. Saw same doctor who didnât call us about a problem in my wifeâs blood test until 7 Weeks After taking the test. I asked the doctor. Why didnât you call us right away since those numbers were flagged And her response was why didnât you call us? Needless to say, we changed to NYU.
I live nearby and have decided to transfer Most of my doctors over to Westchester medical group In Kingston and Poughkeepsie. Coming from NYC, This place needs a shake up top down. Itâs a sweet looking place but beware, Theyâre not the neighborhood Dr, and the staff loves sticking those corporate rules into the customers face With glee. Small town charm, I...
