I recently had a very disappointing experience with the groomers at this location. I was here visiting my family for the long holiday and my dog needed to be groomed so I figured why not go here since my family lives very close by. I also go there for cat and dog food. But oh boy. Never again. I scheduled a grooming appointment online for my Yorkie mix. Her hair is overgrown with it covering her face. I scheduled the appointment for 5 PM on a Friday night because that was the only time I had free to do so. I had appointments and family obligations the entire day. But I did find time to stop at her vet to pick up her vaxx records. Anyhow. I received some missed phone calls from this petco at about noon that day. I didn’t answer because 1. Unknown number. And 2. I was with family all day. I just didn’t have time to answer. It happens. Anyhow, I was able to read the transcript quickly from the voicemail and they were asking me to come in sooner like 1:30. I had checked the voicemail at like 1. Anyhow. 4:45 rolls around and my husband brings our dog for appointment. First thing he was told is they do not cut dogs with such short hair. Also, we go to groomers all the time in NYC and they cut her hair with no problem. I scheduled a cut, bath, glands expression, nail trim, teeth cleaning, the works. Both of the groomers just keep telling my husband he would be wasting his money if he wanted to get our dog cut. Okay fine. No cut. Also, it’s our money. We can make that decision. They also did not offer to even clean her and just kept saying very rudely how we didn’t call them back to come in earlier. Like wow. So what? Finally my husband relented and just asked for a nail trim since he felt awkward and like he was bothering them. Spoke to the store manager, Eliza, the next day about it all. She said she would speak to the groomers to find out what happened and would call me back. Didn’t call me back. I called today and she said she tried but I didn’t answer. I have no missed calls. I actually kept the phone in my pocket to make sure I didn’t miss a call. She also just kept saying how they don’t cut dogs that short. Which was not the point. We were not offered the wash. She said my husband should have asked. Why would we have to bring that up and they kept saying we were wasting our money! It was not offered! The groomers were rude and mad that we didn’t reschedule so they could leave early or not do anything for the rest of the day. The store manager was absolutely unhelpful. I was in sales for many years and if I couldn’t offer one thing then I would definitely offer another. They just didn’t care and made my husband feel very uncomfortable like he was bothering them. I will never shop at a Petco again. So trashy and rude. I’ll go to mom and pops stores instead. Picture is of the dog in question. Too short to be cut? Or...
Read moreI had an appointment scheduled for Sunday at 1pm Through the petco website. I received an email stating the appointment was confirmed for 1:30pm. Which was totally fine. Then I got another email changing it to 1:45 also fine. I also saw another for 1:30. I assumed the later time was the correct time and I arrived to the grooming area with my dog and husband at 1:40pm and immediately the groomer saidwho is this, I said his name and she stated that we were 15 minutes late so they were unable to see him since they had many large dogs arriving however it was 1:40 and I explained I had an email stating it was for 1:45pm After she repeated herself and time passed) she showed me her phone that said 1:44pm. She stated when you are 15 minutes late that they needed to CANCEL, not reschedule. Both groomers were at the grooming area with one dog that appeared to be finished and both groomers participated in this conversation. I said well this is not acceptable and I suppose we will take our dog elsewhere moving forward and I started to walk out and open the door and the groomer laughed upon our exit and said do you want to reschedule I have taken my dog to be groomed there multiple times and I have always had a great experience until now. It appeared that due to the size of my dog they just didn’t want to do it (he’s a young Saint Bernard). Upon research ( in the event the appointment really was for 1:30 and they were following policy). I found out that they only reschedule if you are 15 minutes late. So regardless they did not follow the policy. I am extremely disappointed and I have recommended multiple people to use this location for their pets grooming needs. I called corporate and the person I spoke with said someone would get ahold of me but he never asked for my name or my number! I had to bring it up to him as the call was being competed I am extremely dissatisfied with the customer service from this location. I found out later The groomer I previously used left the company, she was clearly the reason for my positive experiences in the past. I wish I knew her name...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in the grooming service. I booked an appointment, as I had about three other times in the past, for my dog to be groomed. It had been about a year due to Covid and they must have had a groomer leave.
They needed a copy of my rabies certificate. I brought a copy, the same type of copy I had used the other times when it was requested because I did not change vets, but the employee could not verify it. She called another employee to verify it was acceptable. The other employee could not verify it. Finally, a third employee was called to check who determined it was ineligible because it was written in pen. The Rabies Vaccination Certificate literally says to print using ball point pen. In addition to the certificate, I also had a copy of my receipt and the rabies collar thing they give you. Still not good enough.
I am not sure if there is a big black market for forged rabies certificate, which according to Petco apparently there is, and I am all one for following protocol, but this was ridiculous. I had both my kids in the car only to be turned away despite them verifying that I was a customer before.
So a couple of questions. First, why was my vaccination certificate accepted before and now all of a sudden is not good enough? Second, do they not teach common sense any more? Can people seriously not use their best judgement in these types of situations? Does it always have to be so black and white? What did they really think I was trying to get away with? Paying $50 to get my dog groomed? If I did not have a rabies vaccination certificate, did they think I was trying to literally forge one just to get my dog groomed? If a piece of paper signed by my vet that literally says Rabies Vaccination Certificate at the top is not good enough, what is?
I will never go back there and if anyone asks me to recommend a groomer, which I'm almost positive will never happen, but on the odd chance it does, I will make sure that I fully convince them to never...
