The food was alright, fairly standard chinese buffet fare and it was fresh enough. Items like the squid and crab legs felt more like a novelty, since they were mostly inedible.
I don't usually care about service too much, as I don't expect waitstaff to roll out a red carpet or anything. But I progressively realized how abrupt and rude the staff were in my time eating there. When we were seated they were unwelcoming and seemed impatient. And I didn't really process this until later on, but in hindsight the server seemed to be guilting me for not finishing my last plate with two bites left of a dessert, as though I was a criminal for wasting their food, saying "You done?" and pointing at the remaining items on my plate somewhat harshly and disapprovingly.
This realization came to a peak when I paid the bill. The total was $38.64. In a moment of dyslexia, I misread the total as $36.84. I then tipped $6.00, making it $42.84 total. We were leaving the restaurant and the server literally chased us down as we were out the door. I was confused at first, thinking I left my card on the table or something. When she got to us, she showed me the receipt and asked "Is this a 6?" referring to the $6 tip. I said yes. She then pointed to the total and said annoyedly, "Should be $44, not $42!" I realized my mistake, now seeing the total was originally $38.64. I apologized and went to write in $44 instead, although a bit confused why this was such a big deal as there shouldn't have been any doubt I had written a 6, and most waitstaff just correct the total accordingly if it is added up wrong. She seemed out to prove a point. She then continued on and said "You no good at math?" in a very condescending tone as I wrote in the new total. At the time I was also on crutches with a cast on my foot due to an injury, and she looked at me up and down and said "You okay?" in the same patronizing tone, as though my physical state might have indicated some sort of mental affectation that was preventing me from doing such simple math. In retrospect, I should have stopped writing in the new total and changed the tip to $0, and asked her if she could help out with that math problem. I couldn't believe the audacity of her to criticize and patronize me for an honest and minor mistake, let alone how hellbent she was on chasing me down to correct it rather than just fixing it herself. Wouldn't eat here again solely because of this totally unwarranted and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust went for the first time tonight and I can say that the only good thing about this place is their green beans and crab nigiri. The selection is extremely poor and at one point I had to put my bbq chicken back because I realized that it wasnāt even remotely cooked. Completely pink and raw inside when you lifted the skin (like the just thawed the chicken out, put some bbq sauce on it and put it out for people to eat). There donuts and french rolls were hard and dry. My stepbrother said the pizza was dry. The waiters didnāt really understand our orders for drinks and as a result messed up on a couple. I donāt make an issue out of English speaking, I just think they should have a better way of communicating orders so you donāt have to call them back to fix a mistake. Our waitress only came to the table three times, once to take the first round of plates (and refill a drink after we asked), another time to bring the new refill because she made a mistake on the first one, and finally to give us our check. Which she was slightly rude in telling us we had to pay at the table, not at the front. (Which if thatās the case, they why even have a front desk to begin with) It got to the point where our dishes were stacked in a tower about to topple over because no one came to clear them. Seeing the photos of people who apparently didnt pay as we were walking out was the last straw for me. There were six photos and every single one of them was a person of color. I donāt want to scream racism.. butttttt.... Finally, we had 6 people, two kids under 9 years old and four āadultsā. We paid $90 for food we didnt enjoy, that was hardly cooked and for mediocre service. It was absolutely not worth it at all. I definitely recommend going down to New Ling Lingās on Sweetheart Corners before going here....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in at 1:00 Saturday for the lunch buffet with my wife and grandson . Noticed some awful looking old crab legs on the buffet ? Finished up and was handed the bill . Just under $17 a head with no drinks ! So now since the competition was run out of business, the have dinner buffet all weekend with old crab legs from the night b4 ! The food quality has gone way down also . Food was cold , not keeping the food at temp , and unappealing ! Save your money and go anywhere but here . We are not going there no more . We are traveling to Syracuse any way , we will have to see how Empire Buffet on Erie Blvd is lately . Flaming Grill , you will price yourself out of business ! We are through ! 9-9-23 Here is a update to my honest review . We went to a very nice Buffet in Ithica . Nice new BIG building , you know rent is high . Great food , big selection , $35 for the 3 of us adults for Saturday Lunch Buffet , no drinks . Today we were on other side of state. High cost of living near Albany . Went to local Buffet. Had own nice building , clean , fantastic food , Huge selection , everything was kept hot and fresh , probably best Buffet in NYS . $35 , no drinks for 3 . Now come on Mr Flaming Grill Buffet owner . They can do it , what is your excuse except for plain greed ! Old American saying , " You reap what you sow " sooner or later people will get around and get wise to your game ! Get it right , or go home ! There review is no exegeration , I'm tired of people taking advantage of gullible people . Also when you gouge on the price , people try to make up for it by not tipping your staff good . Ask them , I bet you their tips are very short . You are even hurting your own staff to line your pocket . I really can't see you lasting much longer !...
