Only go here if you want cold food. The first time we came was opening weekend which we can understand being very busy but food was cold. We just marked it up to opening weekend very busy. Myself and three other people came in explained to the waitress today 7/27 please all we want is hot! food. Food came out cold had to flag down the waitress saw her go talk to the on floor manager Craig and then proceeded to get ignored. Had to flag down Craig explain what happened. By this time the two other people that kept their food were almost halfway done with their food before they even acknowledge the fact that myself and another person at the table had cold food. Craig back over and offered to remake the two meals. My friend was so frustrated with the time it took for someone to come over she said no just take hers away, I said remake mine and put it in a box. Got apologies from the waitress Craig pretty much halfway ignored us. My other two friends got and finished with their meals and I still did not have my meal back to go!! Sad to say I never ate and then when my food finally came out bagged up .I opened up the eggs benedict and there was about a tablespoon of hollandaise sauce the food and it was sideways in the box, so I flagged the hostess after she was seating some other guests said I'd like to see Craig again. We all watch Craig come around by us but never acknowledge us. So I had to get up with my food to go and show him why is there no Hollandaise sauce on here, he goes oh there's some right there a tablespoon in the corner. The entire experience of going there extremely frustrating and I don't think a floor manager should ignore customers intentionally. Myself and my three friends will never come back to this establishment again. Both times we went there...
Read moreI visited the Daily Diner in North Syracuse for the first time on Sunday, at the recommendation of family who had enjoyed it before. The hosts were very friendly and seated us promptly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience with our server, Jamie C., was not as positive.
-She did not introduce herself—we only learned her name from the receipt. -When we asked for an extra glass of water (we had 7 people and only 6 glasses), she pointed to the glass my child was already drinking from and said, “That’s yours,” rather than simply bringing another. -While taking orders, she stood at one end of the table even after we mentioned some of our older family members couldn’t hear her. As a result, their orders came out wrong (sausage patty vs. links, pancakes vs. toast). -She seemed unsure of who ordered what, and one meal came out completely wrong. -When we asked about the pancake/ toast swap, she insisted it only came with pancakes, even though they’ve had it with toast before. -After we got the manager involved (who was great, by the way), it turned out our meal had been switched with another table’s. Jamie apologized, but the way she said it made it feel like the mistake was ours because the orders were “too similar.” (spinach & onion vs. broccoli & ham).
Big credit to the manager, who handled the mix-up kindly and professionally (reason the overall is at least 2 stars vs 1 star). But compared to other servers we saw working, our waitress just didn’t seem interested in providing good service. Jamie’s attitude and level of service felt noticeably disengaged and unwelcoming. Everyone has off days, but in a job that’s all about customer experience, those little things make a...
Read moreA brand new place that just opened at a building in North Syracuse that formerly housed a Ponderosa Steakhouse a few years back. The place has been fully remodeled for a modern diner experience. The inside is bright, cheerful, and smells good.
They are just getting started, so they have asked customers to be patient with them. I am sure the service will speed up with time. (I heard that the owner is associated with another diner, small but popular, across the street and down the road a bit.)
The food that I had was very good. It is mostly comfort food on the menu that you would find at a diner, but with a bit of a gourmet twist (with prices to match. Each dish is around $12 to $17.) There are few healthy salad choices. I notced how generous that were with the bacon serving.
What I think is special about this place is that it has a liquor license. So, they offer those breakfast eye openers drinks as well some lunch time delights.
They have these outstanding speciality milk shakes that would make it worth stopping in just for a dessert. They have stardard milk shakes too. All which can be enhanced with a bit of booze if that is your thing.
Overall I enjoyed the meal and the time i spend there. I did spend around $65 for a couple of meals, the special milk shake, softdrinks, tip and taxes. A little more then one would spend at a traditional diner, but this place is a bit more than traditional.
If you are in the area, check this place out. Besure to give yourself time to enjoy and a willingness to pay for something...
