I just got done shopping at this hobby lobby just a few minutes ago and I am so disappointed in the customer service that the employees showed there. First I'd like to thank the framing guy - he was about the only helpful and nice person willing to go out of his way for customers. That said - I bought a picture frame, a shadowbox for my husband's rugby team size 24" x 36" it's called the black jersey case original price $129.99 it's 50% off at $65 when I went up to the cashier there was no price tag on the Jersey case and even though I had the print out of the item the SKU number dimensions and description with the picture they would not put the SKU number into the register to figure out the price instead they had me wait for someone to come up to the counter go back find the picture figure out the price and then the line ended up being 4-5 people behind me waiting politely for this to all happen.. it was just a bit ridiculous. What made it worse was the younger cashiers attitude and personality towards me and other customers -no smiles no greeting no willing to help in anyway whatsoever to put energy forward to figure out a quick solution.. then after all was said and done and I paid I asked for something to wrap the frame in so it wouldn't get destroyed broken or scratched through the transportation process to my home she's like "no I don't have anything sorry". I responded with "so you don't have any wrapping paper at all that could help me out..?" To wrap this review up there was no protection provided bubble wrap wrapping paper anything for the picture frame not that it was in the hundred percent good shape anyways.. but still a smile and a good personality with good customer service would have gone a long way. My husband and I recently returned from being deployed overseas for four years in Japan- I think all American employees should see how Japanese employees act and serve customers-it's phenomenal, they smile, they greet you, they always have a smile on their face no matter what... they run down the isles to help you with anything that you need -it's amazing and makes even the worst situations great and even funny sometimes. That's all I got- but I definitely won't be returning to this...
Read moreBeing posted for a friend who was in the store yesterday: Good morning- hate to start the day with such a negative true story but I want to spread the word to as many people as I can. Yesterday I took my 7 year old granddaughter to buy pipe cleaners at the new craft store in Commack Hobby Lobby. We walked through the stores and saw every decoration you can imagine for Halloween,Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Dara asked where the Hanukkah decorations were and I said I would ask the manager as we were leaving. To make this shorter he told me they had none and there will never be any! He politely told me the owners of the chain are Catholic and don't acknowledge any other religions or holidays. I bought what I went into get and told him I am sure he will not care and neither will his boss but I personally will never set foot in that store again. I did not want to believe that this does exist but here it was smack in my face. I did explain to Dara why I will never go back and when we need to decorate for Hanukkah, there are many stores that will be happy to have us. Please do not support this store and all the anti Semitic hate that it stands for. Thank you...
Read moreMy Wife and I go once or twice a month to both the Riverhead and Deer Park stores. I go to not only accompany her, but to shop the plastic model aisle. It's one of the best around. I also enjoy the sales that vary one week to the next. There's usually 40% off wall decor or table wear.
The business does have a Catholic feel as there are not only items that promote Jesus and a healthy Christian way of life, but you won't find the typical "scary" items for Halloween here either. No Witches, Skeltons, Goblins, Ghosts, Zombies, etc. Hobby Lobby presents a fun and relaxed Halloween vibe especially for kids.
The place is usually clean and neat and the employees are amazing. I think of it as the Chick-fil-A of craft stores. Which, by the way, they're closed on Sunday. This makes Saturdays a fairly busy day. One other "fun fact": they don't scan your purchases. No barcodes. All items are manually typed in so double check your sale items.
I recommend taking a look if you've...
