I have been a Bagel Chalet, COMMACK NY customer for over 30 years (both owners.) I support local business and have enjoyed Bagel Chalet’s service and food for a very long time. But I need to share what happened to me last week so you can make safe choices for yourself during and after this pandemic.
I am a 66-year-old woman and was on the line social distancing last week and wearing my mask.
The area can be tight while waiting in line, but everyone ahead of me was keeping their distance.
As I was waiting, a group of young people got in line behind me. One of the couples (clearly under the influence of a substance) were being very inappropriate and kept bumping into me. I moved ahead a little, and they moved as well; I realized what was happening, so I asked if they could keep their distance and showed them the markers on the floor to indicate where everyone should be standing. In the loudest tone, the guy looked at me, then called me a vulgar word several times, and then took off his mask and coughed directly on me. The store went silent. All of the counter clerks stopped and watched, including the owner Nick. I stood up for myself and told him to quit it and back up.
He proceeded to repeat the vulgar words without a mask. A male customer stepped in and told him to stop that language and be respectful while another male customer went up to Nick to tell him what was going on, but Nick watched the whole scene and did absolutely nothing. He never told the young man to put his mask back on; he didn’t tell him to calm down or make him leave the premises. He just stood behind the front counter in full view and did nothing to protect his customers.
After I placed my order, I walked to the counter to pay, Nick just looked at me and never said a word...no sorry, no I will speak to this fool once he sits down; he did not even ask if I was okay after being verbally assaulted at his establishment while he watched.
So after 30 years of frequenting this establishment, the Bagel Chalet and I will part ways...Nick and his staff should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting a customer that has walked through those doors multiple times a week for three decades. The almighty dollar was too much for Nick to think clearly and do the right thing!

Read moreI Order on Uber eats all the time from this restaurant and today I canceled an order because I wasn’t home fast enough to get my sandwich I canceled it and I was charged. When I ordered later in the day, they sent me two sandwiches and I am so happy that they remembered that I canceled my order, they did not forget that I spent money and gave me what I asked for before as well as what I paid for again later in the day. I really love them. Their food is delicious top quality and their service is top quality. Love love them . -joey from Uber eats. Update sept 21 The last time I ordered 3 times on Uber eats my orders were ALL WRONG and missing key ingredients . They made mistakes before that as well like giving me the wrong chosen rolls when I can’t eat poppyseed . Today was the final straw . I pay extra for Uber eats a lot and today I recieved a sandwich I don’t like again . Last time it was egg and bacon on a hero with very little egg white and no cheese , it was disgusting eating such a dry sandwich that was basically just bread and I paid extra for it with no money back . Today I got an egg and cheese hero with no bacon this time when I wanted a bacon egg and cheese this service was better before and now its just disgustingly horrible . Idk what happened but I feel like really disrespected as a customer from this restaurant and from Uber eats because this is a down right shame . Read moreI rarely don’t write reviews but I cannot ignore the bad experience I had with this establishment. I really wanted to like this bagel store so I tried it last Sunday. Line to order was not the issue. I was taken care of quickly after a short wait. My orders were very simple. After my orders were taken, waited about almost a hour right in front of the counter. While standing waiting and watching people after me getting their food. Staff didnt bother to ask why I’m still there. Many people passed me those behind me on the line and those who came in way after me. They got their orders quickly enough. After a while, I approached the cashier and asked if my order was ready yet. She told me it wasn’t - told her I already waited a long time for simple orders and people got their food already after me. The response was ‘it happens’, okay that was acceptable. Then she came back to me to asked what my orders were and wrote it down again like the first time she took it even I already paid when I placed my order. This got me angry , so I told her to give me my money back instead. I proceeded to talk to the manager who apologized and he didn’t even bother asking me who the cashier was so he can at least speak to her so it can be done more efficiently every time., That’s very poor customer service as far as...
