Candlelight Diner — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

OMG by far the worst Diner I have eaten at.The waiter had zero personality to start. He also seem to be in a rush making me feel uneasy right from the beginning. My wife ordered an open face turkey dinner that was served without any vegetable and the mashed potatoes were old looking and extremely dried up. I asked the waiter why my wife;s meal did not come with a vegetable his answer was "it's late you know" ahhhh yes but this is an all night diner HELLO! As if it could not get any worse an employee started sweeping around my feet followed by another with a wet mop that left a strong odor of Pine Sol and a very wet floor. When I went to pay i told the owner about my dining experience and he proceeded to defend his staff for there actions. I told the owner that defending his staff when they were clearly wrong just makes the matter much worse. The owner then started to argue with me and I had to ask him to please not argue with me at which point he denied arguing and argued worse with me. I had to just walk away. I bet if I or my wife had fallen on his soaking wet floor he would have been the nicest human being on earth to us. I will never patron the place again nor will i order out there ever! I am being generous giving...

Went there for lunch on 12/13/18. The service was inconsiderate. Our waitress (Vicki) rarely paid us any attention. Water glasses didn't get refilled and items got forgotten. I got scallops and couldn't eat them; they tasted off. No flavor and chewy. My friend ordered baked clams which appeared in 2 huge clam shells. They were undercooked and looked like raw pancake batter with little bits of clams in them. I tasted them and couldn't eat them either. She also ordered French Onion Soup which tasted like they ran the onions through hot water; undercooked, no taste; the cheese topping was icky looking and tasteless. The only one who was able to eat her lunch was my granddaughter who ordered the children's mac & cheese, probably because it looked like it was the boxed Kraft Mac & Cheese mix. She luckily didn't get sick at all. For dessert, God knows why, I tried their homemade chocolate pudding. It was very dry on top and loose underneath. Tasted it and left it. The rest of the day and into the evening, we both ended up with bad stomach cramps, gas and diarrhea; all for $63.81. Save your money and your health ~ don't go there....

I’ve been going here for prob 15 years now w/friends, family, on dates w/EX-bfs😂, etc...& the foods ALWAYS been great!

I Love that it’s STILL a 24/hour Diner, & even open on holidays & all...& I’m talking EVEN thanksgiving (& they offer turkey dinners, which I once & I remember it being good!...Can even order it to take out), Xmas, Easter, etc (if I’m remembering correctly, & if they haven’t changed that.)

Make sure to try their famous Onion Rings! They’re so addicting & very filling. Different than any onion rings I’ve ever had elsewhere (in a good way!). The batter they use makes them taste like donuts!...sooo freakin’ delicious, & I’m sure fattening, but I don’t care bc they’re that good, they’re worth it! I love their French onion soup also. & their Matzo Ball soup is delish too!...only prob I have w/that one, is I always want more! bc to me, it’s not as filling as most of their other sides & all.

The PERFECT food for when you’ve got the Munchies, &/or for after a crazy alcohol-fueled night out...
