My first time using them and it has NOT been a good experience at all! My son's iPad mini screen was cracked and I set up a time to drop it off at Best Buy. The whole process was extremely confusing, as the Apple Support makes it seem as though you can drop it off there and it will be fixed. Luckily, I called after I made an "appointment" to drop it off just to verify, and I talked to some kid who said that Apple and Best Buy's systems are not "linked" and you can basically pick any time but it wasn't guaranteed? Umm, OK. So I ended up bringing it in anyway and paid the $50.00 processing fee. They took the iPad and I haven't gotten ANY updates since! It has been over 5 days. Finally on day 6, I end up getting an email from Geek Squad and they claim the iPad is ready. So again I call to make sure it is, and got another kid who was talking to me and his co worker at the same time, making his answers unclear. He claimed the email was not accurate and that Apple has a horrible turn around time, so he "wrote down my name and order #" so he can keep track of it! What kind of Customer Service is this? Apple and BB need to revisit their contract and fix these issues. Meanwhile, I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY SON'S IPAD!!!! HORRIBLE! I will never...
Read moreMy laptop screen broke. I called Geek Squad, expecting the local branch but was routed to a call center instead. The rep was pleasant but her information was useless. I told her the exact make and model of my laptop to find out how much a screen repair would be and how long it would take. She had no idea but said she could arrange an appointment for me at the local branch so they could take a look at it. Fine.
I went to the local branch first thing the next morning, only to find more pleasant people with more useless information. They said it probably would take 2-5 weeks because they would have to ship it out to Kentucky. They couldn't give me a quote either but said it MIGHT cost more than $300. He asked me how much I paid for the laptop and how old it was, implying that I'd be better off buying a new one.
Mind you, I've replaced my screen in the past for $150 in two days, so to me this was just unacceptable. I don't blame the reps. I blame the people at the top who've consolidated Best Buy's repair service to one service center in Kentucky and have sacrificed quality customer service in favor of cost savings. But if your service is poorly rated how do you make a viable business out of...
Read moreMy experience with Best Buy (Middletown, NY) Geek Squad was very good. I knew better than to expect that taking my iOS products to Best Buy would be the same as taking them to an Apple Store. A 3rd party will always add complication. But the Best Buy is a lot closer than my nearest Apple Store, so calculating travel time, fuel and a meal both ways to drop off at the Apple Store (2 hrs) adds up to Best Buy (30 mins) being significantly convenient. And Apple has poor employees at times too. The Best Buy employees I interacted with came across as just a little tired, but not irresponsible or irritable, and they did their job with courtesy and...
