My recent shopping experience here has left me thoroughly disheartened, as I discovered what seems to be a deliberate attempt to cheat customers out of their hard-earned money. I purchased a pasta pot marked with a seemingly generous 40% discount, only to realize later that I had been duped by deceptive practices.
The associate initially explained that, due to the item being on clearance, it would only qualify for a 40% discount off the lowest price, not the additional 30% off the entire purchase. This seemed reasonable at the time. However, during checkout, things took a suspicious turn.
As the associate scanned the item, it displayed a price of $90. A female associate intervened, instructing a change in price to $129 before applying the 40% discount. I was momentarily distracted, only to realize on my way home that I had been deceived. It's baffling to think that a reputable brand would resort to bypassing the system, inflating the price from $90 to $129, and then offering a discount. The whole purpose of a "CLEARANCE" item becomes null and void if such tactics are employed.
Living in NYC, the inconvenience of returning to confront the situation in person is considerable. Trusting a well-known brand, I feel betrayed by this unscrupulous practice. In an ideal scenario, a marked clearance item with a scanned price of $90 should have resulted in a straightforward 30% off, leaving me with a payment of $63 plus tax.
