I was planning a visit with my stepson to this lanes, but those plans quickly changed when I was informed that I could not bring my service dog with me. Despite my service dog being protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the staff felt the need to consult the owner, who ultimately denied us entry.
It’s deeply disheartening to encounter such a lack of understanding and compliance with federal law. The ADA explicitly grants individuals with disabilities the right to be accompanied by their service animals in public accommodations. Turning away someone with a service dog not only violates these legal protections but also sends a troubling message to the community about the lack of inclusivity and awareness within the establishment.
As a responsible citizen, I chose not to engage in conflict to avoid unnecessary stress on my own which worsen my disability symptoms, but it is incredibly disappointing that such situations arise due to a lack of knowledge or disregard for well-established legal obligations. I strongly urge the owner to take immediate action by educating themselves and their staff on ADA requirements, as well as implementing proper training to prevent future violations.
I’m leaving this review to give the owner an opportunity to respond and correct this oversight. This isn’t just about my experience; it’s about ensuring that others with service animals are treated with dignity and respect, as the law mandates. I look forward to seeing if he is willing to take responsibility and address this matter...
Read moreJefferson Valley Lanes ask Black and Hispanic First Responder couple to leave for all White Male Bowling 🎳 League. On May 2, 2022 my girlfriend (female Hispanic) and myself (male black) decided to play a few games of bowling and have food and beverages at said location. After approaching the empty counter to inquire a lane, we were greeted by a rude employee who told us “Give me few and I’ll be with you”; after waiting for approximately five minutes (while watching the employee stand there and do absolutely nothing) we finally were assigned a lane and given shoes after paying. After playing two frames our bowling balls did not come back to us through the conveyor belt. While my girlfriend went to notify the same rude employee of the inoperable lane I went to the bar and purchased a pitcher of beer. Upon returning to the lane; I was informed by the employee that we had to leave due to a bowling leagues lane being inoperable also. The employee stated he needed to shift all of the leagues lanes down by one and also had to leave one line empty as per the league’s Request. We were then given our money for the lane back; and told we could not finish our game but could finish our pitcher of beer that I had purchased. No sorry or accommodations were made by the establishment. Not even a refund for the beer. Horrible customer service. But at least we got a Sarcastic sorry from one of the gentleman in the bowling league as we left the lane. Will never in my life return to this establishment after...
Read moreShowed up at 10 o’clock and was told they were closing early because nobody was there even though they are posted to close at midnight. Drove over a half hour to get there just to be turned away when I probably would’ve been out of there before 11 so they could still leave early if they really wanted to. Not the first bad interaction I’ve had there either. I’ve had employees breathe down my neck (literally to the point of me feeling his presence) close to closing time when looking at food in the area after my game, this same guy always seems so annoyed to be asked to just do his job. they don’t seem to care about customers and more about just going home early or right on the dot when they’re supposed to close if they allow you to actually bowl. Don’t waste your time coming here go to Cortlandt lanes down the road or any other bowling alley near you. Just not worth it until they start to care more. Sorry, I probably won’t be there to see it when /if they finally do. Shame...
