I have to acknowledge that Iâm writing this review in an upset state over the death of my beloved cat, who was only 2.
My cat became ill the second week of January. As a first time cat owner, I knew she was sick but didnât know HOW sick. I was able to make an apt with animal medical center (where I had first taken her when I adopted her, a year prior). Their first available apt was in 4 days. My cat looked pretty sick and was breathing through her mouth. I was so concerned and asked the receptionist what I should do for the time between and they offered no sound advice or assistance, nor offered to ask a technician for support. In the meantime my little ones condition declined. When we went to her vet apt, she saw a new vet who gave her an antibiotic and an appetite stimulant⊠and ran no tests⊠She had a Follow up apt 2 weeks later. She wasnât that much better. So they recommended another antibiotic and requested lab results to test for a virus (but didnât tell me what it was or explain anything). She got a little better with this antibiotic, but they never called to inform me of her lab results.
Also the lab they wanted me to order the second antibiotic from was VERY delayed. I was told that they could make this in a few days time and ship over night. 3 days later, my order was still in the que. just for clarification âWedgwoodâ was so delayed with this antibiotic that they hadnât even started making it 2 weeks after I ordered it. And animal medical never checked in on that either. I had to call them a few days after my cats apt bc their recommended pharmacy was unreliable.they had the medication in a pill form, so I picked that up 3 days later.
My cats condition declined within a week after issuing this new medication. I was so upset because within 2 weeks after our vet visit, she was back at square 1, she lost a full pound in 2 weeks and wasnât eating (her stimulant wasnât working anymore) and I was force feeding her and could see what she was deteriorating.
I made a same day apt at a new vet and got her in immediately and they identified what was going on instantly. They called for blood work. I told them that animal medical center did blood work 2 weeks prior and it they mentioned that they only screened for a virus and something else. This vet wanted to see everything, her anemic levels, fluid, red and white blood cell counts for a better understanding, etcâŠ. What?!? Why wasnât this done at animal medical center?!??????
It was confirmed that morning that my cat was severely anemic, she lost her white blood cell count, and had very few red blood cells. She had distemper and it had already reached her bone marrow at that point. She passed peacefully that day with this new vet, who was thorough, explained everything, and was so compassionate.
I honestly wonder if she would still be here today if the vet at AMC in Trappe made the proper diagnosis on her first visit. Her condition required a hospitalization and transfusions. I really feel guilty for bringing her here.
I have another cat and I do not plan on bringing her back here, nor do I recommend this...
Read moreI did not have a good experience at this vet clinic, and will not recommend them to anyone else.
I took my dog to their practice for a torn ACL diagnosis. the doctor did an xray and determined it was a torn ACL. they wanted to rx her Rimadyl and gabapentin. the vet stated he needed to do basic bloodwork first to ensure her organs could handle the medication, i informed the vet that 2 weeks prior a senior panel was done and did not consent to more.
All the vet told us to do was keep her on the pain medication and on bed rest for a few months. the vet said she was too old for surgery and didnt even need a brace. the other ACL tore not even a month later. We took her to her normal vet [spent $75 mind you] and out dog was recommended to Harleysville Vet for surgery. AMC quoted 5,00 - 10,000 for an ACL surgery, Harleysville did it for 1700.
At the end of the appointment, the bill was almost $800. the vet rang up 2 full bottles of rimadyl, did the bloodwork anyway even though i did not authorize it, and didnt even give me the option to only purchase 1 bottle of rimadyl to get her started while i went to a different pharmacy for further prescription refills.
What should have only cost $200-$300, turned into $800 really quickly.
I am very unhappy that they did bloodwork WITHOUT authorization, and that they rang up and sold me 2 bottles of a very expensive medication [name brand too], when i could have been given generic carprophen at a much reasonable cost.
IMO this vet practice cares more about what is in the bank account then actually providing exceptional care to their clients. Even the regular vet we take our dog to, told us that the appointment at AMC was very wrong and honestly lacked some ethics.
There are better vets in the area that are more reasonable on your wallet. I recommend to check out a few before making a solid choice. Our pets are our world, businesses shouldn't use the love we have for our pets, to price gauge us...
Read moreWe moved to Collegeville a year ago and chose this vet based on the reviews and the fact that it was minutes from home. Every visit has been an issue it seems. The first visit I waited 40 minutes after my scheduled time to be seen. The second was 30 minutes. Both times I showed up five minutes before my actual scheduled time. The third time I was checking out and the woman helping me got pulled into a room to assist with a dog. She printed my receipt but the one of the other receptionist working printed something before her and had to refill the paper. While there were two receptionist, neither gave me my receipt, which was all I needed. They went on their computers and ignored me for 15 minutes (I was standing next to the counter with my dog so they really had to go out of their way to do so) until I finally said "can one of you help me, I just need my receipt." The girls looked shocked and exclaimed they thought I had already been helped and offered my dog a treat for the mistake. Fourth time is during curbside treatments. I got a call that the visit was complete and they'd bring my pets out soon. 30 minutes of sitting in my car later, I called the front desk and asked what was going on. Ten minutes later, my pets were brought out and the girl apologized saying she lost track of time because she was playing with them. So almost an hour and thirty minutes I sat in my vehicle for this appointment. It was 95 degrees that day, good thing my fiancé loaned me his vehicle because mine doesn't have AC.
This place holds no regards in caring about your time. Not to mention, every time I'm there, they always try to upcharge by telling me they recommend extra things. I used to work in a vet office and not all these things are as important as they try to make them sound so be careful and do research, they're most likely jusy trying to get extra money out of you. I'll be looking for a new place to bring my...
