The only reason Iâm giving 2 stars and not 1 is because Debbie is great and pleasant to work with.
I dropped my repair off and never heard from anyone in 2 weeks. I called to find out it hasnât been touched. No one called me with an estimate or an update; I had to call them. The owner Tom called me back and said I can do it but to do it right itâs going to cost $350 and it will take another 2 weeks. I said no thanks!
To my surprise, I received a call from Debbie the next day saying the piece has been repaired and itâs only $45. I was very surprised! So I went to pick it up and as she was showing me the piece, the same part was still broken. She was confused and then went back to speak to the owner. The owner came out and said it was a miscommunication and the repair is $350 and will take 2 weeks until itâs finished and that he has 60 jobs ahead of me (after 2 weeks of them holding it). Very confused⌠so how did they come up with the $45 repair cost?? Again, I said no thank you.
Look, Iâm a business owner and understand how important communication is, even itâs bad news but the fact that no one communicated to me anything and that I had to follow up thatâs extremely unprofessional and a waste of my time!
I will be taking my business elsewhere...
Read moreI brought in a watch yesterday that I wanted to give to my son for his birthday. It's about 20 years old and didn't run so I figured I'd put in a battery and have it cleaned up for him. The guy, I guess the owner, took the watch shaking his head and sighing because I made him get up "just for a battery". He came back and said it was all done but it still didn't run because the battery leaked into it and he would need to send it out. He at that time told me to buy a new one. I took it to a real watch guy and when he opened it he told me that whoever opened it last broke the coil because they pushed the tool in too far. The watch hadn't been opened since I owned it. He then showed me the battery and there was no leak in it. The guy at MacKinnon broke the watch and lied to my face because he thought I wouldn't ever find out. The watch is being fixed by someone qualified now so it turned out okay but the guys at MacKinnon won't see the other 5 watches including a Rolex Daytona that also need service. Good lesson in prequalifying by sight. Buyer beware on this place. Find somewhere else to...
Read moreBeing in sales, Iâve got to look the part. After all, image is perception and perception is reality, right? This means I have to get it right when it comes to my hair, my clothes and, most importantlyâŚmy jewelry. Historically, Iâve traveled into the cities Iâve lived (i.e. Chicago, New York, Detroit, etc.) to find my bracelets, rings and watches. Unfortunately, with these big city stores, come big city prices and big city attitudes.
Luckily, a few years ago, I was looking to fix a broken watch and went into MacKinnon Jewelers. From the moment I crossed the threshold into the store, I was greeted and treated like family. Tom (the owner) shook my hand and took a genuine interest in my needs. My watch was fixed promptly and at a cost low enough that I thought was a joke. It wasnât.
Iâve been back several times to see Tom and his friendly and helpful staffâŚand every time, he remembers my name. Put simply, MacKinnon Jewelers has the huge selection you want, the customer service you deserve at prices you wonât believe. I have, and will continue to recommend MacKinnon Jewelers to anyone who...
