I'm rating this a 3 not because the food was bad but because the service was. We were seated right away because the place wasn't even half full but that's normal for most restaurants on a Sunday night. We sat there for a good 15 mins before our server came over to ask us about drinks. By that time we had already chosen our meals. We ordered the pear sangria and a cucumber jalapeños margaritas for drinks and 2 side waters. My husband ordered the Mongolian Beef Tacos and I had the Blackened fish tacos. It was another 10mins before we received our waters and told our bar drinks would be a few due to bar tender working on other drinks. No one was sitting at the bar and there were probably only 4 other tables of restaurant guests. Another 10mins go by and someone else brings us our drinks. The drinks were good.. Then another 10 mins before our food arrives. The food was pretty good. My husband Mongolian beef was favorable and tasty. I felt my fish tacos lacked fish. But was still pretty good. Our waitress never came back by to check if we needed anything nor to see if we were satisfied with our meal. We didn't see her at our table until she walked by to pick up our payment that we had placed at the end of our table. Good thing we didn't need to-go boxes. But we did see her and 4 other waitresses laughing about something in the corner of the restaurant where another couple of diners had just left. The place didn't smell of good food instead it smelt of molded carpet. The floors were dirty but were being swept. It was filthy under our booth table. So I'm guessing they didn't sweep after the previous customers. The booth seats were filthy as well. Sticky like they hadn't been properly cleaned in awhile. But didn't notice this until we had already been seated and figured maybe because it's a bar type setting. We seen our waitress a total of 3 times. To place order, deliver order and to pickup payment. That's not acceptable in my book when the place was more than half empty with several staff members present. So I'd give this place a C. F for the service and an A for the cooks.. I'm not sure we will return to this restaurant even though the food was tasty and decent. If we do it will be to pick up an order and...
Read moreZim Zari hit it out of the park during my visit on a Sunday afternoon. Starting from seating, to service, to drinks and meal, to dessert, through to saying bye was a delight at Zim Zari.
Despite the hopping crowd for Sunday lunch, the service staff were prompt to tend to my needs and courteous by providing suggestions and listening attentively to my order. She (Kirsten) made sure to stop by just the right number of times to check on me and my lunch party ensuring our needs were met and when we were ready to move on to the next course.
My order of Margarita Flight (3 flight sized margarita) came out expediently. I ordered Prickly Pear (tequila based pear agave drink) was the sweetest of the three The lime juice added a slight tart contrast, nice. The second was Strawberry Pineapple (tequila based strawberry and pineapple triple sec) was boozy smooth lightly sweet beverage that went down fast, really nice. My third in the flight was Mango Fuego (mango tequila with habanero agave) a spice bite tropical libation, very beachy. This was a great flight combination.
My Luau Pork Burrito came with Roasted pork + Black Beans + Corn + Rice + Pico De Gallo + Yuca + Queso. I chose their seasonal bacon ranch Pearl couscous and a side of mango salsa. The burrito has the perfect balance of flavorful juicy pulled pork and the rest of stuffing. The wrap was moist without tearing, the seasonal couscous is to die for with its slightly salty and tasty umami finish of the couscous bites. The mango salsa added a tropical contrast. This was a perfect burrito dish I've had in a long time.
Thank You Zim Zari for making my visit such enjoyable and memorable one. I will return again just wish I lived a bit closer than 45...
Read moreMediocre at best. We were seated at a very small table that was not big enough to hold our food and drinks so everything was on top of everything. Very small space and just uncomfortable overall.
We had the jerk chicken tacos and the steak tacos. Would not order the steak tacos again, just not very good. The jerk tacos were ok. I’d try those again. I also was quite fond of the street corn dip.
The drinks are very weak, so be prepared to get a double if you want a properly made drink.
The service was probably the worst part of the experience. We absolutely loved the host that seated us, and the manager stopped by to give us a free appetizer coupon for being first time customers which I thought was a very nice gesture. But the waitress but clearly overwhelmed and had too many tables to give proper attention to any. Not her fault, but this is something the restaurant management should work to improve on.
The wait times were long. And they also messed up the flight I ordered and mixed them up, so when I went to order an actual drink of one of the samples from the flight, I ordered the wrong one and I still got charged for it.
Overall, my first experience was a bust. But we live close by and I’d try again and see if they improve their service.
My son did enjoy...
