As far as a workout facility, it's great. Trainers there during daylight hours and the place is open 24/7 with good equipment and lots of room. This isn't why I went there though.
My time was when they had a 6 week to a better you program. I have always been challenged by working out and eating right. I will admit I didn't know what the h*ll I was doing much of the time. The six week program I took used a corporate plan, managed by the local trainers in the Troy facility and was modified for my give situation which was that of a 53 year old overweight US Veteran with some existing injuries. Covid amplified these issues. The six week program offered had me eat to where I was completely fulfilled and offered group workouts. They modified much of the program for my injuries and issues, which worked great. I didn't realize much weight loss until I had graduated from the 6 weeks. The switch that would have flipped for many on about week 3 didn't really start rolling until about week 10. By then I was established in better eating and exercise habits formed during that 6 week program. I continue to lose weight and feel better than I have in years, thanks to the program. If you want to sort yourself out with exercise and eating, both monitored and encouraged by peers and trainers, this is your go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I initially joined, they charged my account multiple times in the first month. They immediately took care of it and refunded the charges. On multiple occasions my key fob didn't work, so they eventually switched it out with another one. I then went to the gym at 4:30 one morning to find that it wasn't working again, so I was unable to work out. At that point, I realized that they were not deducting anything from my account. I went in and had my account settled and cancelled my membership with one of the owners. This was in December.... in March my account was charged so after contacting them on multiple occasions they reached out to ABC fitness and asked for a refund. ABC never refunded it, so my bank dealt with it. I am now being contacted by ABC fitness stating that I owe my March monthly due.....ummmm I cancelled my membership in DECEMBER!! Do NOT get into a contract with this gym...I have given them adequate chances to make this right. Honestly it's entirely disappointing and exhausting to deal with such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been doing what I can through word of mouth and now this online review to encourage people NOT to get a membership with Anytime Fitness.
I signed up a few months ago for a two-year contract thinking at the time that it was the best deal. A few weeks ago I went in to cancel my membership because I found somewhere closer to work out. Then they told me I had to pay over $1000 to cancel. They did NOT make this clear to me up front when I signed up, and it's probably somewhere hidden in their contract.
It's pretty sad to me that a business has to trick people into paying money in order to get their business. It's one thing if it's a cell phone contract, but this is literally just a gym. I would say I wouldn't ever go back, but now I have to since I'm locked into this.
Please don't come here, just go to Planet Fitness which is cheaper and doesn't put you in a contract, or the YMCA, which is where I was going to start working out at until...
