I really wanted to like Blue Nile, but my experience was quite disappointing mainly due to 1) the abysmal quality of the diamonds for the first pair we received, 2) Vicki at the store was quite rude, I wouldâve spent more with her if she was a kinder salesperson, and 3) minimal inventory in store (Iâd recommend going to another diamond store for last minute purchases).
We purchased a pair of 1.5 ct cushion cut lab grown diamond earrings. These earrings arrived about 2 weeks later and were very close to a 1 ct size. One of the diamonds was also very noticeably cloudy so we brought them back to the store and returned them promptly with Ulysses. He was much kinder than Vicki, acknowledged the cloudiness right away and agreed with the small size of the diamonds. He tried to justify the small size by telling us the ratio was different for this pair than the pair we had seen in-store. Iâll give him points for being a good Blue Nile employee, however this gave me the feeling that Blue Nile may be selling and authenticating low quality lab grown diamonds to customers through their online shop.
I wanted to test Blue Nile quality, so I ordered a different pair of 2 ct lab grown diamond earrings, round this time so they cant say the ratio is why the earrings are smaller than the size we paid for. These arrived in store about one week later and I picked them up with Vicki. I waited about a minute in the store while she chatted it up with a man in the back room, potentially another employee at the mall. Once she realized I was in the store to pick up rather than buy, her tone flipped a switch. It went from fake kindness to limited patience. I wanted to make sure these diamonds were the right size and clarity, but she rushed me out of the shop saying they didnât have any diamonds of comparable size.
Overall, what a terrible experience shopping for jewelry! A jewelry shopping experience is meant to be fun and exciting. Vicki at Blue Nile is my least recommended jewelry salesperson. Stay away from her.
Before walking away with your Blue Nile purchase, make sure it is exactly what you paid for. The quality of their diamonds is very...

Our experience was honestly frustrating and deeply disappointing. We went in excited to look for an engagement ring, and the service we received was the complete opposite of what you'd expect for such a meaningful occasion.
From the start, the saleswoman was rough and careless. While measuring my ring size, she pushed the sizer so hard that she injured the skin on my finger, even after I asked her to be more gentle. She showed no empathy or sensitivity at any point.
When it came time to design the ring on their website, it became clear she had no idea how to use the tool. We ended up wasting time trying to figure something out that she clearly didnât understand.
To make things worse, she kept repeating that she had already been married twice and that made her an âexpertâ in engagement rings. Seriously? Thatâs not only inappropriate, itâs also discouraging and uncomfortable for a couple looking to take such an important step.
And as if that wasnât enough, when she finally emailed us some ring options, they were nothing like what we had asked for. It felt like she hadnât listened to us at all.
In short: a completely forgettable experience with someone who clearly shouldnât be handling such meaningful moments for couples. If you're shopping for an engagement ring, look somewhere elseâsomewhere that actually takes your...
Read moreI came to this Blue Nile while searching for my Fiance's engagement ring. She wanted it to be a surprise so I went alone, not knowing anything about rings or diamonds. Lindzy at Blue Nile sat with me for 2 and a half hours during my first visit helping me look through ideas and helping me understand more about diamond characteristics. I left feeling knowledgeable and confident that I could choose a great ring. I came back a week later to purchase an engagement ring and received even more help from the Blue Nile team. They were all VERY friendly and helpful in everything from reserving diamonds for me that I might want for my fiance, to sending me setting ideas and diamonds similar to ones I had already liked. My fiance loves her ring and we came back to BN to find wedding bands as well since they come with a 20% dicsount after having purchased engagement ring here. On top of all this, I feel like I got a good deal on her ring with Blue Nile's pricing compared to other online...
