I wanted to give 5 stars so bad, unfortunately Kelsey ruined my experience. It started of well when my family and I entered the store. Right off the bat my 2 year old was excited with all the Disney items. Dirk was super helpful and kind while throwing his pitch as we walked into the store.
During my half of the watch of my daughter, her dad and I trade off so we can each shop in peace, my daughter was shuffling her fingers pretending their little people walking admittedly she was doing it over tables and the clothes but no where near to make any kind of a mess. Kelsey made a smart remark to the effect “these aren’t toys”. I shrugged it off because I knew my child wasn’t doing anything wrong and moved to a different part of the store with my daughter. Second encounter was when we asked Dirk if they had a trash can to throw away an empty Starbucks cup, she interjected and said no they didn't have one in the store, that there was one outside. As my husband went to throw it away I hear her telling Dirk that they do have one but she doesn’t like customers’ trash in their store trash can so she directs them to the mall trash. On my third encounter we were looking at merch on the wall to the left of the registers, well here she comes again I’m assuming to tell us we were too close to being behind the registers. When I moved she just placed herself behind the counter and waited until we were a bit further away. Now during our check out, Dirk was our cashier (we only wanted to deal with him) we tried to use box money. We had confused the dates but don’t fear Kelsey again interjected without anyone asking her too, to tell us those weren’t able to be used yet.
I’m a retail worker myself and understand when people don’t watch their children but to helicopter customers around the store is ridiculous.
Also if you’re going to have merchandise for children also have employees that are able to be friendly to children. Remember children may not be the actual “buyers” who pay but surely are the shoppers, they’re the ones who are going to give the store the extra $10 on purchase bcs their parent gave into a toy that are right at the check out line.
I gave stars because Dirk was great. He let us know the store promos, was easy to deal with, offered to put our chosen items behind the counter while we continued to shop, was knowledgeable and friendly. They also had great merch!
Sorry for the long review, but definitely had to share...
Read moreI used to think boxlunch was so expensive and I couldn't afford anything. They always have some kind of deal going on and their rewards program is clutch. Boxlunch money have saved me hundreds. The staff is phenomenal. They always help me out in any way. Addie looked up a bag and a wallet and even double checked in the back for me. She was very informative 👌 staff asks me if they can take stuff in my arms to hold at the front so when I'm walking around for an hour I'm not holding all my stuff. It's very helpful. I have crowd anxiety and can probably look like someone whose ready to steal. They never make me feel like that though. I've even had a tem member ask me if I'm ok. I said I just don't really like small spaces with a lot of people. They very kindly said they understood while taking a step back and saying if I need anything to let them know. It can be an overwhelming space for me, but their warmth definitely helps me. I always get complimented on my BL "swag." Again thank you to Addie who has on multiple trips went above and beyond any other...
Read moreI visited Box Lunch at Park Place Mall for the first time in a browsing trip. It was fun seeing all their cool stuff; my family and I kept showing each other things we found. Employees kindly offered help and let us browse leisurely, and even noticed how hard my daughter was trying to get me to buy something. Addiee offered help, was playful and lighthearted, and let me know where to find the clearance area in case I was interested. We took a look and found some cute clearance items we liked at good prices. Addiee’s humor, warmth, and friendly helpfulness made this a great time. I appreciated that she gave options to consider without pressure in a way that both my daughter and I felt understood and comfortable. I even noticed Addiee and a coworker take turns asking each other for a hand or help and they were as kind and responsive to each other as they were with us. Box Lunch is a very cool store, but the best part was Addiee! Thank you...
