I’m unsure why it’s so hard to find a good nail place after my local gal moved on. But, it is, even across states, and I’ve tried. Went to Uniquely on a trip home after being highly recommended. I had been doing my own at home so this was a special treat considering the hefty $60 price tag for basic mani, pedi combo. Noon opening on a Sunday seems a little late, but it’s still post Covid times. Got in and waited 10 minutes for an occupied bathroom, the only one, while the nail techs spoke about me in their native tongue. I was given the oldest gal in the place to begin my ā€œpamperingā€. I had perfect nails to work with after taking care of mine at home, but still, somehow, she found a way to make them crooked, pointy. She’d also spray my entire hand repeatedly with drying alcohol, even prior to attempting a lotion filled hand massage. I asked for the wifi password and was told they don’t have one, despite the name of the place prominently displayed. She got up after over an hour to grab the top coat and then proceeded to apply an orange tint base coat over my ā€œwhite outā€ nails. I was mortified. Both of us were covered in white polish, and now these laborious nails were orange hued and striped. She offered no apology. Just continued to mutter about me under her breath, as she had done for the past hour plus. I had to exclaim five times that my nails were orange before a younger gentleman came to take over. He was able to remove and cover up the orange. But the next day all the ā€œholesā€ appeared. I called the nail salon to see if someone would be able to fix my botched manicure. The woman who answered the phone said she would try. I asked what that even meant. If you can’t fix bubbles in nail polish (the fault of the nail tech) then I’m unsure this should be your profession. I asked 3 different ways. Nope. She was still unsure, and would try. I’m sorry. I know we are post-pandemic and prices are soaring. But when you splurge for this kind of pampering and get this poor of service at this cost. Absolutely unacceptable.

I stopped in for the first time today as I needed to fill some time, I recieved Quick Service, but I have concerns on if this fill will last my usual 2-3 weeks, I asked for a specific shape with build up to get my desired claw-like look. I always provide a picture for reference but by the time we got to polish the shape was right but my fill was very thin and not what I was expecting. They look nice and my tech was acomodating when I changed the color I wanted so I can't say it was a bad experience. The price was fair, $40 for a fill and gel polish, my tech was quiet, which is fine by me, I didn't feel like I was unwanted in the salon. I do have concerns about the sanitary practices, I wasn't instructed to wash my hands until after my fill was finished and nail glue was placed under my nails trapping any debris from the prep of my fill or that may have been on my hands before I got to the salon. My regular spot has me wash 3 times while I'm in the salon so this was a bit odd for me.

I got a full set on Saturday. By Monday the nail tips had lifted off my natural nail. I could feel the weakness. I called the shop a lady said to come in. I show up only to be met with ugliness, unprofessional behavior and no help. They explained that it was not their fault and my fault for asking for a straight nail tip- you know one they offered not as if I brought a nail tip. You could see visible gaps under my nails. After going back and forth they only offer to "fill" in the gaps with acrylic??? Not take them off. Not refund me $70 that I paid. Nothing. So I had them fill the backs. It did not fix it but may prolong them falling off. Kiss my 70 bucks goodbye.

I was going to give it two stars because I appreciated the patience she had in putting on the gel and making sure it looked right. I went in there with the intent of seeing Tamy since I've heard many rave about her (and my usual nail place was all booked, which is why I went there), but I didn't want to be too picky since I went in there 30 min. before they closed, now I know I should have asked for her. But, I think that a nail spa should have technicians that do a great job regardless of who you get, which is why I changed my mind and gave this spot one star instead. Coming in to leave a review, I see that others have complained about similar or the same things I didn't particularly like either. Hope that others have had a better experience than I did because I definitely won't be going back.

Now, I asked for a gel manicure and the lady didn't seem too happy that I had gel that had to be taken off. She had me soak my hands in acetone, I tried asking for the aluminum foil wraps because my hands are dry as it is and I knew that the acetone wasn't going to do me any good and probably cause some of my already sensitive dry areas to crack, all she said was, "this is better, it's faster." She overdid it with cutting off the dry cuticle area, left two super sensitive and managed to make me bleed on one. When filing my nails, she noticed I had my dry ares (as mentioned before) and tried cutting off the skin, grabbed her nail filer and kept filing at it, I tried pulling my hand away because it was painful and she kept roughly filing until I told her to stop. I told her it was very sensitive and it hurt, which was the reason I asked for the aluminum wrap to avoid the excess acetone on certain areas, only for her to say... "well, you should have told me." When applying the gel she did it patiently, and I appreciate her taking her time to make sure she did a good job, but she put the gel all the way up to my cuticles and in some fingers on top of. When doing the color she passed her nail between my cuticle and the nail to make sure it didn't touch, the issue was the top coat. In trying to take off that cuticle gel off a couple of nails myself there is a visible lifted part of the gel between my cuticle and the nail part. That may perhaps be too picky, but I'm pretty sure the nail polish or gel is supposed to only go on the nail and not on the...

I just moved to AZ and decided to try this place out based on the reviews; It was my first and last time receiving services at this location. When I first walked in one of the ladies looked at me and immediately started speaking in their language then came a burst of laughter so yes, I assumed the comment was about me. However, I ignored it and went on to receive a pedicure (I used my own polish for my toes) from another lady who rushed through the service and was very rough. While I received my pedicure, a younger lady removed my gel polish (had me soak my fingers in acetone instead of using cotton balls and aluminum foil) when the polish did not immediately come off after scrapping the hell out of my nail bed, she reached for a drill to which I informed her not to use on my nails. I asked and paid extra for a design to which after some words to her co-worker in their language she completed one design and stated "is that good enough?" I've never encountered someone working on my nails to ask me a question like that. After the young lady was finished with the acetone used on my hand, she placed it in a bowl beside the sink rinsed out the bowl and placed it under the sink; I am not sure if what was used on my hands had been previously used or not but her actions made me wonder. After an hour later, asking the young lady to remove gel polish from the back of my hand, having cured my gel polish in the lamp that rested on the armrest of the chair I was in....I knew I would not return. A few people who came in after me asked specifically for Tony so maybe he's the reason for such great reviews. The employees were unprofessional as 2 of the women argued the entire time I was there with one walking over and slapping the other one hard on the back. 20 mins after that incident they ended up wrestling one another between workstations where other customers were receiving services....other customers found it funny...
