USS Arizona Mall Memorial — Local services in Tucson

I have the utmost respect for those who served and sacrificed their lives on this ship. But other than in name (a superficial symbol), it has nothing to with Tucson or Arizona. The ship was built in NYC. It never sailed the high seas of AZ. Spending some time, looking at many of the names on the memorial, I did not see one person from Arizona (although there are likely a number as I did not look at the them all.). So what is the link to Arizona other than certain alphabetical letters arranged in a certain order? Americans should perhaps think a little bit deeper...

Scavenger hunt! Where are the names of folks who died under the age of 18? And over 40? Walk up the stairs of Old Main for a better view of the outline of the ship. The room in the Union directly to the north is more of the memorial that includes photos and items...

I read about this. It was started by an Arizona relative. Not many today know the size of these ships, it’s a great memorial to brave men.

And the guy that doesn’t understand the connection of the ship to the state should educate himself...
