I shop at this store A LOT considering I have a son that plays travel ball. I normally have no complaints but this last time in particular we had brought in some things purchased for my husband for fathers day by our kiddos and needed to exchange a few thibgs that didn't fit or was wring size. We brought the items inside the store in the gift bag they were given to my husband in that clearly said Happy Father's Day and it was a very large bag! When my husband got up there the cashier did the exchange but instead of telling my husband there was still $10 that hadn't been spent and what would we like him to do either get something else that was $10 or put the money back on the card, he did so without asking. That should have been asked what we wanted to do with it being it was a gift and he clearly could see it was a gift. He was very rude about it when my husband said he would run and grab something that was $10 he then told my husband its to late!! I already put it back on the card (which was our daughters card bc she bad been the one to purchase the items). My husband got frustrated because the young man was so rude about it. Next time you could say now there is $10 difference you haven't spent what would you like me to do? I can wait and let you grab something else in that amount or I can put it back on the card it is YOUR choice as the customer not the cashiers choice because they just want to hurry and get you done! I don't know the cashiers name but im sure my children could tell me exactly who it was considering he was very rude to them and to my husband and told them to get out...

However it clearly states on the website that boresighting and optic mounting is free of charge if you buy your firearm at Academy but even if you don't buy your firearm at Academy boresighting and optic mounting can still be done for a small fee. I was turned away when asking for these services at the Tupelo MS store because I did not buy my fire arm at Academy. I repeatedly told them the web site said they did offer these services regaurdless of where you bought your firearm and was still told no. It is sad that I know there services better than the person over the firearm section of the store. I have done nearly all my Christmas shopping online at Academy. Have spent hundreds of dollars there in the past few weeks and I won't spend a dime more at the store at least online possibly but not if I have to go to the store to pick up or shop! This experience was embarrassing and made me very angry. Not another store within 50 miles so now I will have to go purchase a bore sighter and range time to do it myself.    Read moreMy experience was poor. I went with just one item in mind. Tactical boots. I found just one type that would be acceptable for the job. Just one. I was expecting to have at least 3 brands to choose from but got 1. Then, when I asked the manager if they had more somewhere, I wasn't looking. She sent over someone who had to ask me where the tactical boots were even. This person had no idea and even said it was the first time she heard the name tactical boots. Wow. I asked her if they were somewhere else in the store, and she brought out her phone. I gave her some search terms, and after she typed them in, she handed me the phone to scroll. Ok, now I'm looking for her, but whatever, I'm good with electronics, thankfully. Found what I wanted and was out of stock. Also, it said out of stock for shipping? Wow, with a name like academy sports, you would think they would have a better selection. They are playing a dangerous game. This is why so many stores in the mall closed.
