I brought my 3 adult kids to bowl a few games before Christmas. This is a family tradition for us. Normally we just bowl in athens but I needed to run to Tyler and thought it would be nice to go to Green Acres. I havenāt been there for many years having grown up in Tyler. Unfortunately The girl behind the counter decided to make this years memory less than perfect. Usually I donāt make bad reviews but for her I will make this one exception. I over paid because she didnāt want to let us play by the game instead she asked if I wanted to pay for one hour. I had no interest in being in the middle of a game and run out of time so I said we would rather not so she informed me very reluctantly to tell her how many games because we had to pay in advance. I jokingly said are you afraid we arenāt going to pay. She said as a matter of fact yes. I did pay in advance. We had a lot of fun but really frustrating. After going back and having to pay again for a 3rd game we were done. Donāt get me wrong there are no professionals here. Just having fun. Here is why this person should be fired...really. As I was leaving we dropped off our shoes and I asked the girl ( Iām not naming names. She knows who she is) what would it have cost to pay by the hour? The answer $18 a game.ā¹ļø so I just spent 1-1/2 hours playing and spent $65. Her answering...yep.
Never again!! Iāll stay in athens where folks do not treat you like trash. Merry Christmas Green Acres bowling. Truly the 2nd bad review Iāve...

When it's operating normally, it can get quite noisy on a Tu/Th night unlimited bowling (starts @ 9), although during the virus cutback, it's been really nice.
Best thing is unlimited bowling on Tu/Th night from 9-12. When it goes back to "normal" (whenever that is), it could get noisy and you might get the few really obnoxious bowlers that either run up beside you and/or are WAY too loud. I'm a more serious bowler, so I always follow lane courtesy...but not everyone does (and fewer know of it today). On the off chance you get the obnoxious one (or even drunk one as I've gotten), you can let the front desk know and they'll move you to another lane.
Next best thing is their double cheeseburger--it is to die for! Always hot, fresh and very tasty. For $6-6.50 (depends on who rings you up), you get plenty to fill you up (double meat/cheese) on that alone.
Only thing I've noticed since a few months ago after I started is that they changed the oiling to the lanes, which didn't make sense, as the original pattern they put out was VERY scorable and long-lasting; the newer pattern makes it harder and a lot more unforgiving. This would be the ONE thing I would change--go back to the original pattern--as it still forced me to execute--but made multiple angles to the pocket very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe maintenance has gone down hill, I bowled with my own ball I brought from home, and the whole time I bowled, the ball was getting gouges everywhere. There are at least a dozen performance harming gouges that have pretty much ruined my ball that has been retired and can't be replaced, and if it can be, it isn't cheap. The next day, I come in to get the gouges fixed, the pro shop guy can only sand out one, but that's because the owner won't let him fix or replace anything. The pro shop guy himself basically says he uses his old balls even though he has 3 brand new balls sitting on a shelf he could use, because he knows the maintenance is horrible. but the owner knows of the gouging issues and knows the exact lanes they happen on 7 and 8, and 17-22, but he swears up and down they have looked everywhere for the problem, and has tried to fix it/has fixed it but still, balls are getting destroyed. In the end, it's better to go to Longview and waste your money on gas, then buying and repairing bowling balls, and wasting your money on...
