I heard Fire Fish was doing their grand opening today and I’ve been dying to try it, seeing as I missed the soft opening.
I was politely greeted as soon as I walked in. I was honestly shocked at how beautiful the place looked inside. You can tell someone really took the time to do it right. I was shown to my table, where I was approached by my waiter. I believe his name was Justice. He went into great detail explaining the menu and even made some great suggestions. He also had a great personality, which contributed to an overall amazing experience.
They have a rather large menu, so it definitely took me a while to decide. I ended up getting the sliced yellowtail and some miso soup to start off with. The miso soup itself was unlike what I’ve had from other places. It had a very unique, yet delicious flavor to it. The yellowtail was phenomenal. It was my first time ever trying it and I promise I’ll be ordering it alot more. It basically melted in my mouth. The ponzu sauce added such nice flavor to it.
I knew I wanted to try quite a few things and that’s exactly what I did haha. I ordered the crispy shrimp with fried rice, mongolian beef, Texas roll, red lobster crunch roll, and the golden philly roll.
Although each individual dish was nothing short of perfection, my favorite thing was the mongolian beef. It came out on a hot skillet with a spicy (not really spicy) sweet garlic soy sauce, mushrooms, and green and yellow onions. Not only was the beef incredibly tender, but it was packed full of flavor. I can’t recommend it enough.
I tried the shrimp next. It was lightly breaded and coated in a sweet garlic soy sauce. It was served with some broccoli as well. Another dish I could go on and on about. I feel like I must mention how good the fried rice was. Easily some of the best in Tyler.
I finally made my way over to the massive boat, which happened to be carrying all 3 of the rolls I ordered. Each roll was incredible and stood out from the next. The Texas roll had some perfectly cooked filet mignon on top of it. Combined with the crab, cream cheese, and avocado made for an excellent bite. The red lobster crunch roll was in a league of its own. Just something about tempura lobster in a sushi roll seams like a match made in heaven. I can’t forget the golden philly roll. The smoked salmon in there really set that roll off.
As if all that wasn’t enough, then came dessert. The name seemed so fitting for what they brought out to me. It’s called Cloud 9. Seeing as that’s the sensation you’ll feel while eating it. It’s vanilla ice cream on top of homemade flan, drizzled with a strawberry sauce and a decent serving of whipped cream. Can’t forget the fresh blackberries and blueberries. There’s also strawberry wafer sticks and oats on top.
The owners of Fire Fish also own Go Fish Modern Japanese Kitchen, so you know it’s gonna be good!!!
Make y’all’s way over to Fire Fish asap if you’re looking for some incredible food in a relaxing, yet...
Read moreOne of the best dining experiences of my life.
Laura at the bar took such good care of me and the chef Steven obviously has such passion and love for his cuisine i feel lucky to have had that experience.
I had been curious about raw fish and asked if I could order one piece because I was pretty sure I wasn't going to like it and didn't want to waste the rest of I didn't
The chef made me a piece of yellow tail sashimi and some toasted (1/2) cooked salmon and it was complimentary :0 I hated them both haha (I just don't like raw fish). It was very fresh and tasted good I just can't deal with the texture XD
then I ordered 3 sushi rolls for 20 dollars which is nuts and they were all absolutely delicious - Laura brought me about 12 sauces and let me try some hot sake which was intense XD
THEN in the middle of munching on 3 delicious rolls here comes Steven with a piece of american Wagyu nori which was also delicious and had real wasabi - which is fruity after the kick goes away which I wasn't expecting.
I asked if I could try some by itself (they had treated me so well I figured he would let me) and he brought me a tiny little fish with some ground wasabi and I got to try THAT for the first time in my life too!
Happy hour drinks and happy hour sushi. The wildest part is I had to tip 50% because my bill was only 22 dollars!!!
I am super grateful for the experience and haven't been treated so well and been given such a fun experience in any resteraunt ever.
And if you're a more adventurous eater the chef prepared a fish liver something or other for the couple sitting next to me who say they come twice a week. The chef out there shaking hands and serving like nowhere I've ever been and Laura asked me if I wanted so many things that I didnt know I wanted it was a 12/10 dinner and I'd recommend anyone...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this place and were really let down. It was all about the food for us. The service and atmosphere were great.
First we were offered complimentary miso soup which was nice. It was pretty good, however the last few spoonfuls were really salty. Like really really salty.
For starters we opted to not get sushi because it seemed quite overpriced compared to other sushi places we go to in Tyler. So we decided to go for the hot food here.
Wife ordered Walnut Shrimp. This was the most bland and cold plate of food we've ever gotten. The Shrimp was luke warm and the broccoli on the side was cooler than luke warm. It was almost like this plate had been sitting out for 15 minutes before we got it. Which is weird, because the food came out from the kitchen incredibly fast! But the temperature of the food wasn't the main problem, it was the lack of flavor.
I got the beef and scallops with lo mein noodles (+ $3 for the noodles instead of rice) the noodles were on point! Not overcooked like so many other places in town, even ones with "Noodles" in their name. The beef/scallops portion came out on a sizzling HOT plate (like fajita style). Smelled great, the scallops were really good but the beef was over cooked and dry.
I would like to say the waitress was very nice and made sure to keep bringing refills of tea even without asking us if we wanted more. The atmosphere was great too, but the food was just so lackluster and bad that I can't give an overall of more than 2 stars.
Spent $55 on not great food and leftovers are going to...
