T.J. Maxx — Local services in Union Charter Township

Had a travel emergency, forgetting to pack a dress for a wedding reception the next evening. Planned on going to an upscale dress shop the next day, but decided to try TJMaxx, because it stayed open late. I found a Calvin Klein dress that was dressy enough, and fit great, but what really impressed me was the staff at the Mt. P. location. I wanted a fancy scarf or wrap, needed a purse and shoes, because what i brought wouldn't coordinate. I inquired about silky scarves, since only winter ones were out in Michigan. Two employees jumped into action bringing so many options, from faux fur to sequins, to my cart. I didn't asked them to help, only if the knew of anything that could serve as a wrap. I wish I knew their names, because they were so helpful in putting together an outfit. I ended up buying 2 dresses, several wraps, shoes and a Bebe clutch purse....and looked totally appropriate for a dressy reception. Thanks TJ Maxx MT. PLEASANT. You probably saved me a few hundred dollars and your people could not have...

We stopped into the Mt Pleasant, MI TJMaxx on a whim after picking up a trailer load of flooring at the nearby Menards. While perusing the store, we found the perfect accent chairs (on clearance!) but only had an open trailer to haul them back on. It was scattered rain outside of course (April in Michigan) so we asked the associate if they had anything we could use to cover them. Not only did she provide us with several plastic bags, she also brought out some packing tape along with a friendly smile. She stuck it out with us as we methodically wrapped and secured the chairs for their 2 hour journey home in potential rain. I wish I had taken the time to get her name, but she was awesome and went out of her way to help without batting an eye. Highly recommend this location if you happen upon it. I always enjoy shopping at TJ Maxx for goods but feel employees lack people skills. The store offers a variety of beautiful home goods to browse through in addition to clothing and offers me great gift ideas. The only complaint I have is customer service always seems to be lacking. My last two shopping experiences while at the jewelry counter have found the gal behind the counter gossiping, apparently too busy to wait on guests. Also, I've never gotten a real friendly vibe from workers, at checkout it's just a quick ring up, bag the item, take the payment, and send you on your way....
