JoeMiguel Salon — Local services in Union

I was charged $106 without even stepping into the salon. They charged me the initial $30 deposit and when I gave the hair stylist notice that I was stuck at the DMV and that I’d like to reschedule - they proceeded to cancel my appointment , keep my deposit and charge me an additional deposit even though the rescheduled appointment was later in the afternoon THE SAME DAY(that’s $60 in deposition money) . I then get a call being told that I will be charged 50% of the total of whatever I would have gotten at the first appointment(apparently totaling up to $46) In total I was charged $106 for services that I never was even able to obtain. It’s unfortunate that I have to write this because this isn’t my first time coming to this salon. I understand you have policies that you want to create to help protect you hair techs. How do you go about protecting the client as well? This doesn’t seem fair. And it isn’t right.

NEW: Adding in to this after the response. I was not a new customer. This is unfair and you will lose clients that way. I had been going there for years. I was able to accommodate your stylist for not attending a scheduled appointment with me when she canceled same day for a appointment I came to. I had to have another stylist do my hair and it was for my wedding trial. How is that protecting your clients ? When they can’t make it to an appointment and are charged $106 for not showing up after communication with the stylist. It’s unfair - greedy and a lack of customer service. I have referred many to your shop and now I no longer will for this mistreatment. I’m an understanding person but this is completely disrespectful. Terrible experience. The owner of this salon Joe Miguel refuses to take accountability for any negative feedback. If you look through the reviews, you’ll notice a pattern he always claims that the person “went to a different salon” or that he “couldn’t find them in the system.” It’s his way of avoiding blame and pretending his salon is perfect. Trust me, it’s far from it. You’ll spend hours there 3 to 4 hours or more and the service is absolutely not worth the price. He claims to have “implemented changes,” but that’s a complete lie just to make himself look good publicly. The service is horrible, and the owner is extremely stuck up and full of himself. He doesn’t listen to what you ask for, just does whatever he wants to your hair, and then acts like he knows best. He even says his Instagram posts are “real” and that “everyone can see for themselves,” but that’s also false his entire page is a polished mirage, a carefully curated fantasy meant to sell an illusion, not the real experience. What you see online is nothing like what you actually get in person. The glossy photos and confident captions disappear the moment you sit in the chair. That confidence isn’t authenticity it’s a cover-up. If you come expecting the perfection shown on his feed, you’ll leave with disappointment, wasted hours, and the feeling that you were sold a lie. The only saving grace is the workers they’re much nicer, more respectful, and actually make you feel comfortable. My experience was 10/10 in all the aspects. Starting with customer service right at the front door you get welcomed with a bright smile by all the staff. I had my service in a cold weather so they asked to hang my count, they asked me if I wanted something to drink. Although I said no, I still appreciated the thought. I booked my service with the one and only Joe Miguel, he introduced himself first and then proceed to ask me what kind of haircut I was looking for. He explained how to maintain my curly hair. What products to use to hydrate it and keep it moist. Also explained what hair machine and alternatives to use to defuse my hair. What comb to use. Step by step. That is just worth of every penny I have ever spent on my hair before. Then to witness the new hair style he gave me. I loved it, still in love with it and not a day goes by that I don’t get a compliment. Joe Miguel Salon is the salon you want to go to ESPECIALLY if you have curly hair. They are an amazing team.
