Checking in as a proud Peruvian... My family and I have pretty much tried any and every Peruvian restaurant in the tri-state area... and as our gastronomy continues to reach worldwide tummies, more and more seem to pop up. My nail tech moved to this area, so me being from NYC, that's how I was able to run into La Skinita.
Now into the food: Mi combo favorito tallarín a la huancaina con su lomito saltado... uyyy que ricooo. Yo soy muy picky!!! I'm very picky with my Peruvian because anything I can order I can eat 20 times better at home.
Ordering to go is never my preference but I had to make it to my appointment. Even so, I genuinely enjoyed my plate. Authentic flavoring, authentic portion, (peruano come mucho!) and also wrapped very appropriately.
My plate had a lot of juice from the lomo so it was banquet wrapped which I really appreciated.
All in all, I will come back to try their chifa, because much like the LOMO, these are the basics they must get right to be considered a stamped and successful authentic Peruvian.
So far, the lomo and the huancaina passes for me!! Give La Skinita a try!! I doubt you will be disappointed.
Also shoutout to the cashier and what seemed to be the manager.. I didn't get names but they were very admirable and encouraged me to take a menu to see their many options for next time. This meal is...

They have a dish call el Aeropuerto. Look it up on the menu. having it next visit. To start we had the papa a la huacaina. This is a cold appetizers. Is potatoes served on a bed of lettuce smothered in creamy queso seco y aji amarillo sauce ( dried cheese and spaci yellow hot peppers) then topped with sliced boiled egg. Tell the server of you dont want it spicy. The pollo a la braza ( rotisseriechicken) was nice an juice. Can not forget the green sauce. Is one of my favorite. We had the arroz chaufa con pollo. Is a Peruvian version of Chinese chicken fried rice. We also had the bistec a lo pobre. This a dish with white rice, a fried egg yellow plantain, and big cut of steak right on top. No salad. Other places this come with a side salad too. The steak was cook to perfection. Pink I'm the middle just like I like it. The portion were enormous. The chaufa alone is enough for 2 big eaters. We didn't have a long wait. The service was good. The is parking in the back. Wheel...
Read moreThe customer service is horrible in this place, no wonder the restaurant is always and I mean always empty, Last month I went with a few co workers and we waited 45 minutes for them to bring our food, I don't understand how customers came in after us and they were getting their food quicker then us. Today I went to pick up food for me and my coworkers and the customer service was horrible, I can see the cooks fooling around through the their kitchen window, and they were making side remarks with the waitresses. I don't know if they were making remarks towards me, but it was so unprofessional and it made me feel uncomfortable. And whats worse is that the food I brought to my co workers was horrible as hell, the arroz chaufa wasn't raw but wasn't fully cooked like the last time I went. The Fried Wanton was horrible as hell, some had cheese and the other portion had chicken, It was suppose to have pork. The sauce that goes with the Fried Wanton was horrible and it wasn't sweet at all. Maybe if the cooks paid more attention to cooking and less fooling around, the food would have been better. Horrible experience, I am so...
