Sue's Nail Studio — Local services in Upper Arlington

I do not recommend you come here if you are particular about how you want your nails done. Sue wants to do your nails how she wants to do them. I'm really disappointed to write this review because I had such high hopes for this place, but I really do not recommend it. Sue works out of a solo office space. At first, I thought the appointment would go well because it's quiet and feels like a personal service. I was getting gelx with removal. The first indication that something was wrong was when she complained that I had acrylic and that it's harder to take off. Ok, no biggie, it was quiet while she took it off and put netflix in the background.

When she actually started to measure out my gelx nail sizes, I tried to tell her how I like the sizing done (more narrow than wide), she had an attitude immediately and said that she's a professional and I should trust her to do it the right way. She argued with me, and I told her it's my first time there, I want to tell her how I like it done so that next time she knows my preferences, but I should be able to tell her what I'm looking for. She did not agree and said that she didn't have to do them if I don't trust her. How can I trust her when it's literally the first time I've ever come to her? I thought that was ridiculous and her attitude was terrible. I should have walked out then.

She proceeded to get annoyed when I also tried to get her to do the right shape. She never gave me time to look at the colors I wanted and was rude when she handed me a swatch of pinks. When the appointment was over, she was still rude, so I didn't tip and just left. Immediately after I left, I canceled all upcoming appointments I had with her (I really wanted to like this place).

I did not like my nails or the shape, so when I got home, I fixed them myself. Only go here if you want to sit down, shut up, and get your nails done how she wants to do them. You won't get a say in your own nails and will likely have nails you hate for weeks. I think she has gone solo because she has an attitude, doesn't work well with others, and doesn't treat some clients well.

Hopefully, this response by Sue gives an indication of her personality. She is distorting the facts, and I will maintain what I initially wrote which is she does not like it if you ask for anything. I did not yell or complain. I just tried to tell her how I liked my nails and she didn't like when I asked her or let her know that something wasn't quite right. I told her what shape I liked which is almond and she gave me stiletto which is too pointy. When I told her it was too pointy so please round it out, she did not like that I asked that and she had an attitude with me.

Sue clearly sees herself as a professional who should not be questioned. Like I said, she wants you to sit down, shut up, and let her do what she thinks is best, not what you would like. If you ask for anything, she is rude while she "hold on with patience" -- she's not patient at all. Despite her attitude, I was respectful, remained quiet, and let her do it her way once it was clear that she didn't want me to say anything.

When the service was complete, I told her thank you, she did not respond, so I left. I am not attempting to defame you. I am sharing my experience. You are in a service business. Please don't be rude to your clients if you don't want to get an honest review across all places where reviews can be found. You are getting the review you deserve for the service you gave. I’ve been a client of Sue’s for a couple of years now and no one beats her attention to detail. I have a standing appointment every 3-3.5 weeks for a gel manicure and a pedicure periodically.
