Johnny Was — Local services in Upper Merion Township

I’m a long time customer of this brand and location. I can’t say enough about how welcoming and knowledgeable the staff here is. I primarily work with Tom and Lydia who are just rock stars and have never been disappointed with purchases I’ve made based on their suggestions. The customer service in this location is by far the best I’ve experienced in any retail location I’ve visited I was originally drawn to the brand because it reminded me of the garments of my youth. When I retired, I donated my traditional work wardrobe and began to build my JW collection that has served me oh so well for all occasions! Went in to look for dresses for a wedding at the King of Prussia mall location and the store clerk definitely was super rude and kinda racist? She totally looked me up and down as I walked in and then proceeded to not greet me or anything.. mind you there was no one else in the store either. I assumed she was in a bad mood or had a bad day but then not even a minute later a white woman walks in and she proceeds to greet her warmly and compliment her dress! At this point I was already uncomfortable having faced my first passively racist incident in awhile but as I walked out the store I still smiled at her and she saw me and looked away! I love Johnny Was and own quite a bit.

I have never felt so unseen in any of the other locations. I literally walked into the store carrying a JW bag over my shoulder and barely got a “good day” from either person at the register.

My friend and I were the only ones in the store, and we pulled multiple pieces to look at and never was offered even a second glance. If I had never been to another location of this brand, I would never shop Johnny Was again, but fortunately I know the truth is to just not shop...
