A Life-Saving Experience at Harbor Freight Tools – Jacob Deserves 6 Stars!
I walked into Harbor Freight Tools expecting to pick up some birthday gifts for my dad—I never expected to walk out with potentially life-saving advice.
While I was shopping, I had a coughing fit (thanks, asthma), and Jacob, an employee there, immediately asked if I was okay. Not only did he help me find everything on my list, but he also recognized the sound of my breathing. He mentioned that it reminded him of an infection caused by black mold. At first, I was skeptical—he’s not a doctor, after all—but something about his concern stuck with me.
When I got home, I couldn’t shake his words. That musty smell in my basement? The one I had ignored for who knows how long? I decided to call a professional, and when they pulled up my carpet, I was absolutely shocked. A massive portion of my floor had rotted from mildew and black mold. The remediation team immediately warned me to stay out of the basement, keep my pets away, and even recommended I stay elsewhere until it was fully cleaned and repaired. They told me this kind of mold is a silent killer—it can take years off a person’s life, especially someone with a lung condition like mine.
If it weren’t for Jacob, I might have continued breathing that in for who knows how long. He didn’t just give me great customer service—he possibly saved my life. I can’t express my gratitude enough. If I could give six stars, I would. Harbor Freight, you have an absolute gem of an employee.

Read moreHarbor Frieght is an awesome store. They always have every random obscure tool or item I need. Some people talk bad about the quality of some of the tools, but I've never had an issue buying any of their mid range tools or specialty devices. Good prices and an amazing selection of anything you'd need.
*Update 12/29/24: i had a car issue over the Christmas holiday. I tried everything i could to shortcut the process of the fix. After 4 days of not getting it working, I went to harbor frieght to find some specialty tools, and a new jack/jack stands.
As always, everyone in the store was super helpful.
One employee was the best of them all. Jen. Jen showed me the isles I needed for the specialty stuff, helped by answering any questions I had, and even rang me up as I was leaving. She was always smiling and made a trip out of desperation to get my car fixed before I go back to work Monday, 1000% less stressful. Jen is an amazing employee, and if i was running any type of business, I would try to steal her, clone her, and staff an entire company with her.

Read moreDrove 2 hours one way and spent $100 in fuel to buy a chest that was in stock and for sale but left empty handed, was told i should have called prior. Why? Item was in stock, store was open, but they would not sell it to me. Apparently they needed to have more people to carry it out the back door and all the way around the buildings (several linked stores in a plaza) or something. Their were a couple of us big guys to carry it and we asked if we could just take it out the double doors right out front where we came in and load it into the truck on the sidewalk. (Light enough and small enough for 2 people). Still got denied purchase. They could have at least put it on a hand truck and moved it outside so it would be in our hands from their if it was policy for a customer not to move such an item in store. Very upsetting and a big waste of time and money (fuel). Wonderful problem solving skills. Ill be sure to call ahead for ALL future purchase assuming any of us return. I guess that will be up to how this issue...
