Worst chinese experiance in vancouver, take out.
The staff are fine, the restaurant seems clean on the surface, but the quality of the food is bottom barrel. With the exception of some of the vegetables, which seem hand cut, the flavor, quality, and quantity of the product is far below what I would expect of even a drive through chinese place. it seems more like gas station chinese food if such a thing can be imagined. Some of it was even undercooked, namely the fried shrimp, which also got soaked in the juices, but don't get confused, it was raw batter underneath.
Making matters worse is the website, which seems to be your typical farse that appears in every chinese venue these days, showing pictures that do not represent at all what you are getting. nothing is more apperant than ordering something with a picture of thick slices of shoulder roast pork, and recieving the smallest velveted pork I've yet seen in a restaurant. in comparison to mcdonalds false advertising, this is like getting a picture of a nice burger, and then you open up your carton to see they dumped in some crumbled ground beef and a half slice of bread over top, and the whole thing is swimming in ketchup and pickles as if to make up for it.
I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'm not sure why, in a pandemic, they set the quality bar so low. if they are running into operation cost, I would prefer to pay more rather than recieve a...
Read moreMost of the food here tastes really good. Their chicken lo mein is especially delectable. I tend to binge on those whenever I order from them. My younger sisters used to ask my parents to come here all the time, just for those noodles. Everything else has also tasted quite nice, although I'm not the biggest fan of their calamari. However, one thing stands out as bad: their free egg drop soup. It was lacking in the typical flavor you'd get from this kind of soup, but with some rather unconventional ingredients. My cup actually tasted more like corn chowder.
I've eaten here a lot in the past (a few years ago) with no problems at all. Their food tasted back then just as good as it does now, and service was fine and dandy. However, I did have one issue when I ate here a couple of weeks ago with a friend: the server sat us way too close to another table. Normally I'd be given at least a table's worth of space between me and the next table. Unfortunately, our table was quite close to an occupied booth, perhaps not even six feet away. They should be more careful about this during the...
Read moreI ordered the C6 combination with fried shrimp and broccoli and beef. The fried shrimp were gooey on the inside. The batter was still raw. The sauce on the beef was gritty like it had too much flour or startch in it. The broccoli was horribly bitter and under cooked. In comparison, the fresh broccoli at Winco has been amazing the last few weeks. So, it is highly likely the broccoli in this meal was frozen. The tea was nothing special. It didn't taste like oolong. The spring roll was likely frozen before it was reheated. We could hear loud voices from the staff in the kitchen. The only good thing on the plate was the fried rice and the hot and sour soup was good. Unfortunately overall, the food at Great Taste, doesn't taste great. We won't be back. There are way better Chinese restaurants...
