So my husband and I became wine club members here within our first month of moving from the east coast to Vancouver, WA. What a fantastic choice this was, almost eight months ago now. Since living here, we have also tried other wineries in Washington and Oregon. We have not been a fan of any of the other wineries we have tried in either Washington or Oregon.
Today we went hiking in Oregon and decided afterwards to try a winery. This winery gave hardly any wine in their tasting and we weren’t crazy about any of their wines. The second winery, we liked their wines, but after a tasting found out you could only get a glass of their wine that was on the tasting menu for the day. Plus there was a mark up to drink their wine by the bottle in house versus taking it home. Uh, yeah no thanks.
So then we drove the 40 minutes towards our home specifically to go to Airfield. We got to enjoy a Frosé and a glass of our favorite wine. Afterwards even though close to closing time early for an event, we were offered to try a special Frosè. Which was delicious by the way.
So since they were closing early we went to our fourth winery of the day a block away and try a tasting there. First of all the tasting is pretty over priced in my opinion, but like the second winery, you can only get glasses of the wine on the tasting menu for the day.
So this very long review is to just clarify that Airfield is the best! The wine club obligation of buying 24 bottles in a year is SUPER easy and the best deal we have seen yet. You can get a glass of any of the wines they offer except the wine club exclusive ones. The service and people are fantastic. The tastings offered is a generous amount. Plus the wine is DELICIOUS! We have always appreciated Airfield and have come over 20 times in 8 months, but today we gained even more appreciation for them. So I suggest if you read this whole review to join wine club if you...
Read moreMy first trip to this tasting room was outstanding. I was impressed enough with the service and the atmosphere to bring my girlfriend and two others to join me for a second visit. There was one person manning the room, which was fine, it was early and not busy at all. The employee did greet us as we walked in, and that was about the only good part of our second visit. Perhaps the person there was just having a bad day, but all of us were made to feel like it didn’t matter if we were there or not. Sadly I don’t think we will be returning to Airfield, but there are so many other Tasting rooms on the waterfront, I don’t think they...
Read moreSpent a delightful hour or so here last week tasting wines with some friends from Portland. From the cheerful greeting we got by several employees as we entered to being seated outside by Devon, who was super friendly and knowledgeable about the wines she served us, we felt like this was the kind of place where we could have happily hung out for hours, breathing in the cool evening air and watching the action streetside. However, there were more wines to be tasted, and more food to sample elsewhere. So on we went into the evening ... But we will be...
