The food here is actually really good. Better flavors then the ones over the bridge. I would give 5 stars, however I gave it a 3 because the atmosphere that the Asian host lady gives is not okay. There is one server that I don't see often there, I can't remember what her name is, but I remember her telling us she was half chuukese and half something else. Anyhow she wasn't even our server and she helped our table because our server was busy, this was last week. I seen her doing that with a lot of tables and then it seemed like the Asian lady stopped seating her. This week wasn't the only time. A about a month ago we came in and she did the same thing. Giving us a server who had to many tables so this girl had to help us grab refills lemons. Fast forward, Family and I were just there yesterday and the I seen the island girl who is my favorite because she is funny and seems to always be laughing and making jokes, help bust tables and I don't even think she was working she was just helping. The other servers are nice and give good service, but Im tired of coming in there and having 1 server who has to many tables and can not provide good service to me. They need to hire more servers and stop stacking tables to one server. There is another white lady there that does a really good job not as funny as the other one but she does a good job at helping out as well. Anyhow, if that Asian lady is working, we try to not go in. Which we didn't see her in the front yesterday so we went ahead and dined in. Only because I have seen her on her phone not helping any of the customers or servers and they were packed. I don't like to contribute to a stressful environment. This is my second review on this restaurant. Food is great. But service from the host is uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Not wanting to be rude or complain. The...
Read moreThe restaurant was small and they filled it with tables. Mostly booths. However, as a plus-size person, that many booths did not allow for space for us to sit at a booth. They did try to seat us at a booth, and we both tried to fit into it but then asked for a table instead. The waitress was polite but seemed nervous. The interaction felt awkward. She asked for our order as soon as she seated us and when she took our drink order. We did have to ask for one drink refill, and she filled the second refill after an empty cup was placed at the edge of the table. When the food was delivered, it was just placed on the table, and then they left no words spoken. The place was not busy, but people were seated right next to each other. We each ordered the 1/2 lb crab and 1/2 lb shrimp with 1/2 lb sausage, and I ordered the eggs also. I got garlic butter and old bay, and my husband got Cajon. Both ordered mild. We also ordered an order of cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were just the run of the meal cheese sticks. Nothing special. The marinara was delivered in the single serve dish it came in, not even heated up. The sticks were warm but not hot, and they lacked the cheese pull. The crab tasted as if it had been defrosted in salt water. That was the predominant flavor. About 1/2, my shrimp had not been deveined. The egg was overcooked, and the corn was mushy. My garlic butter old bay sauce was good. Husband Cajon sauce was tasteless. I used the restroom and while it was decent for cleanliness (no paper on the floor, etc.) The toilet paper was just left on top off the trash reciprocal instead of filling the toilet paper roll, the trash was full and the counter was covered in water. It did help with the seafood craving I had, but it was nothing to...
Read moreWell...heck. We were so excited to see this place was open...we could not WAIT to try it out. Heavy sigh. The place is super nice...well decorated, roomy seating...it has a bright and engaging atmosphere. Staff was wonderful! Food portions...HUGE. All that was great. Unfortunately the reason they fell short was the very reason we were there. The food.
Having been to Bucket O Crabs on 82nd Ave in Portland and Captain's Choice Cajun Seafood over by Lloyd Center, we expected the exact same thing...and this was why we were super excited. We actually thought they were all run by the same company.
Well..heck, what a disappointment. The food could not have been more bland. It's Cajun...where was the kick? I had a order of their chicken wings...and asked for Cajun spice on them. Well, they were cooked perfectly.......but hey had ZERO spices of any kind...that we could tell. I asked for some Cajun spice that I could sprinkle over them and was given a dish of what they use. Even that was bland..it had no salt in it, no kick, just dry spices .. in fact I couldn't tell you what was in it..but it wasn't the Cajun spice I am used to.
We ordered the fish combo. Well, the portions were ginormous (I also asked for mine to be seasoned with Cajun) but sadly... the catfish wasn't fried in cornmeal (but some sort of breading which got soft from the steam of the fish)..and again, NO flavor...just bland. Everything was just bland.
If you want the full on Cajun seafood experience...save your money.....or go to one of the other two places I mentioned. Either of those and you won't be disappointed. Go here...and...
