The best business I know! They’re a hole in the wall, so unfortunately I didn’t even know they existed until last year despite the fact that they’ve been there since 2013. As an individual who has autism, an alternative aesthetic, and an interest in horror, I heavily support their mission of employing people with autism, and I highly recommend going to Industry Horror to show them your love and support!
Davina (the owner) is super sweet and she works at the little blue hair salon in the same building as the psychic. She deserves a raise! If she does your hair, I highly recommend giving her a huge tip! She’s one of my favorite people in human history, and I mean it. And Jenni (the manager) is a lovely person as well. Always friendly and smiling!
As for what they sell at Industry Horror, they have their own unique merch (mainly shirts, but also hats and stickers) that they make in the nearby warehouse, lots of super cute and unique accessories that I absolutely adore, enough jewelry for an army, Hempz lotion, enough sunglasses for a whole college or two (including the professors!), bars of fancy soap, decorative signs, cute girly clothes, plenty of awesome pins, Croc charms, pretty hair clips, super kawaii belt chains, quirky keychains, safety keychains, backpacks, wallets, purses, duffel bags, fishnets, gloves, cards, gift cards, chokers, harnesses, and all kinds of cool stuff that’s bound to make Hot Topic envious! And the best part is that despite the store’s miniature size, they have something for pretty much every aesthetic you can think of!
The workers are all super friendly, there are not one but TWO full-body mirrors (one right outside the dressing room and the other inside of it), a face mirror right near the sunglasses (for obvious reasons lol) and the shop is pet-friendly, technically kid-friendly (I say technically because although they allow kids there, a considerable amount of the stuff they sell has sexual themes, swearwords, and some other stuff which may not be suitable for kids, especially if they’re very young), the music is good, there’s always some decorations, and they clean the shop daily and do a good job of it. The only real downside is that there’s no restroom.
If you have autism, I highly recommend applying for a job at Industry Horror, especially if you’re looking for a first job. It’ll be a lot of fun and look great on your resume! And yes, there’s a mini fridge and a trash can. If you have to use the restroom, I recommend the one at...
