I purchase a 12 gauge shotgun from this store and waited the days required to pick the weapon up. I went into the store yesterday and waited 12 minutes before someone came up to help me. The gent went in the back room where there was loud talking between two people from this room. The gent came back out and said the weapon wasn’t available. I asked what that meant. He said that the merchandise wasn’t ready to be processed. Why, I asked, because this was the day I was to pick it up. After a few minutes of bantering the guy finally admitted that the only computer available to process the gun was being used in the back room where these people were talking very loud the whole time. He we said I need to make an appointment to pick the gun up which was never disclosed to me at purchasing the gun. I stated to this guy that I had purchased three rifles earlier in the year at this same store and didn’t have to make an appointment. The guy said come back in two 2 hours and he could help me out. I explained I took off early from work to pick up the gun and had other task I had committed to. The guy said there was nothing he could do. This is the last purchase I will make...
Read moreer then asked my husband for his ID, my husband declined and said why? To which the manager said "i just need to make sure your prepared to buy", my husband declined and said "no, I'll just wait until the other manager is here, there is no need for you to see it" the manager already upset prior to getting there said " don't you know the rules in California, you need to have your documents to show?" My husband cut him off and said , yes. I have my ID , my passport , I know what is needed to purchase in California. The manager then said "you know what? I'm just going to deny you service" and he walked away very irate. He refused his name, and then the other employees, clearly confused on what was happening, looked around and when my husband asked for the managers name they all refused to give him anything, to which the manager yelled at them and said "don't give him anything, I just denied him service". This was a terrible experience. Again, we've been shopping here for YEARS! probably longer than whatever age the "manager " is. We are very upset, and are waiting for Monday morning to contact customer service...
Read moreWent to purchase an item for $29.99. I called ahead to check inventory and the employee says they have it and it’s $26.99. I’m think to myself “cool it must be on sale”. I get there and the item rings up at $24.29 and then I ask if I can use my 10% off coupon. Employee says yes and rings it up. I had another item so the grand total didn’t throw up any red flag. When I get home I look at the receipt and see that the employee just rang up my item back to the original price of $29.99 and took the 10% off that, which was still higher than the $24.29 the item rang up as. Such a small amount to drive all the way back for, but what a dishonest business Big5 is running. The employee should’ve said “oh, the sale price is cheaper anyway, you should just save your coupon for next time”. I think my days of shopping at Big5 are through. They’ll probably be the next sporting goods store to sink...
