Warren Times Observer — Local services in Warren

Most editions have many spelling and grammar errors. The majority of the articles are ripped from the AP (with their own problems). The paper is mailed so you're basically a day behind if you read it in the morning. The "editor's opinion" is always just rehashing what it thinks the popular opinion is.

Most of the letters sent in by locals (a recurring few, actually) are childish, hateful, redundant, full of logical errors, and littered with incomplete facts or outright lies, yet the paper is so desperate to fill the pages they include them anyway.

We even get to be blessed by the wisdom of random people from Dunkirk, with their own full articles, which are nothing but rantings.

Considering all, this paper gives a bad impression on the intelligence of the community. Perhaps it is just those who live in the "city" of Warren.

The Times-Observer and Post-Journal are unfortunately limp journalistic efforts founded on cronyism with city leaders (in Jamestown, for example, this means the Jamestown Renaissance Corp) coupled with pure unadulterated cowardice. Do not waste your time writing intellectual, well-reasoned news letters to the editor or reporting actual news. They will not pursue your concerns, they will not print your intelligent criticism of the powers-that-be. The...

The decision to mail the LOCAL paper is not well received. No paper when post office has a holiday and old news delivered a day later. Surely there were other things that could have been done to cut costs. Give us the news in the morning instead of 3:30 pm when we get our mail. I hate to see the paper for this town disappear but my guess is you're going to get more than a few...
