But Ivo is worth the traipse into DuPont with the decaying glory of yesteryear and the stench of skunk and desperation. You can book online. That’s the easy part. Once you find the address for his business where he has been located since 2006, you will wonder about the seedy and sketchy neighborhood. Located near nightclubs and fast food joints, the door is up a few wonky steps, paint peeling like dandruff. Once you get in, it’s up stairs like a walk up in Queens. The carpet on the stairs is a dried blood color. There is renovation going in the building so a layer of white powder coats everything. At the top of the stairs is a foyer table smothered in white dust and envelopes. To enter the spa, one needs a code. Use the one that Ivo sends. If you ring the doorbell, an unfriendly gate keeper will begrudgingly let you in, or maybe we snuck in when he was letting them out… I believe he also has his business there. Anyway… then you will have access to seats, water, toilet, etc. as Ivo will greet you there. But, then you have to go up another flight of stairs…

Then, finally, in a large room diffused with soft light and music, you will get one of the best massages of your life. I have had hundreds all over the world and by some of the best in the world, and Ivo is very good. He has a pleasant manner, he listens to what you want, and then his strokes are even, regular, modulated, and constant. The table is heated which is cozy, and the table can be moved up of down which is great for those of us who have short legs. Getting on and off the table was less dangerous. Thank you. Ivo uses a lotion/cream so you don’t feel greasy afterwards. I really like that. Ivo is friendly but professional so I suppose you can talk or not, depending on what you like.

In conclusion, Ivo is worth it if you are willing to accept climbing two flights of stairs and dealing with the temporary construction dust.

But, Ivo, please move to a nicer building with an elevator. I won’t come back to DuPont just for you. At least that’s how I feel today. Please, please, please. Pretty please, move.

If you don't read any other part of this review (which you should because you should research before you purchase ANYTHING) the thing you should know is that this place is the best massage for the best price in DC and Ivo is the best masseur.

I have scoliosis, so massages are like medicine for me. I suffer from back pain easily, and a real deep tissue massage helps tremendously. I have gone to my fair share of amazing and terrible deep tissue massages before. What sets this one apart is Ivo's ability to give me relief and relaxation without excruciating pain.

Ivo always starts by asking me if there are any specific areas that have been bothering me since I last saw him. His knowledge of the various back muscles and how to manipulate them was apparent to me from my first visit. I leave every session with him feeling relaxed and pain free for days. That is simply priceless for someone who suffers from back pain.

While not actually priceless, the price is just as amazing as the massage. Incredible price, incredible massage.

The massage room is always warm, the beds clean (and smell nice) and the bathrooms clean as well.

I hate to share Ivo with all of you because he is my favorite but alas, you should all have the same relaxing and pain free experience that I have had...

Earlier this week I had my first massage session with Ivo after hearing and reading so much about him and how good he is and what an exceptional masseur he is. The good reviews are all understatements. He is amazing. I scheduled a 90-minute deep tissue massage and explained in a text and in a discussion with him for about five minutes before he began the massage the severe pain and numbness I was suffering for over a year due to three damaged vertebrae in my lower back and the nerves associated with them. This caused wrap-around pain on my torso and even pain down my left leg into my foot. I had not slept properly in many months.

The session was intense as he instinctively worked his way right into the sources of the problem. Never have I experienced such a wonderful, therapeutic experience. I felt relief immediately and the improvement has lasted and made my life almost immediately better. As an avid cyclist and yoga practitioner, I had just about given up these activities over the past year. I resumed them the day after this massage and have slept through the night every night since the massage.
