Brown's Electrical Supply Co — Local services in Wasilla

Update: After originally giving my one-star review below, Browns responded quickly. Diane was very nice and made things right with no additional hassle for me. It was beyond what I expected. Because of this I feel it's right to update my review to five Stars.

Original: I went in to buy a couple of nema 14-50 plugs for making extension cords for a 50 amp generator. I didn't want to use the garbage from the box stores so I thought I'd go to a good electrical supplier.

They gave me two right away which I assumed was the only thing they had in stock. Took them home and wired one up and it broke. It was a poor design, and in hindsight I would have been better off with what the box stores had. I took the other one back and returned it. At which point they showed me a couple of others that are more popular and commented how they don't sell as many of the ones they gave me.

As expected they don't return faulty damaged products, and to add insult to injury, the better quality ones are $10 cheaper. I've used Browns for years and generally like them, but this experience was just very very disappointing.

I guess my takeaway for other customers is make sure you ask to see all of the options available. I can't help but feel like they were trying to unload some garbage that professional electricians know better than to purchase. One of the employees even commented how stuff with shiny plastic is not good in cold weather because it's brittle. Well, we're here in Alaska so why knowingly sell brittle electrical products that carry 50 amp loads? That's a good way to get somebody hurt or killed.

I gave this place 5 stars because they have very knowledgeable and reliable staff. Earlier last month we purchased LED bulbs to replace our florescent lights from here.
