While they do have numerous sales going on every time we have been in this location, as well as a wide variety of clothing, accessories, and cosmetics, this place only gets 2 stars from me. We have been in several times in the few months we have lived here, have made a few purchases. But what I absolutely cannot get past is the fact I (nor others with me on visits) were not once greeted or acknowledged by employees on ANY visit. The only time we interacted with staff was at checkout. Today, I even made direct eye contact with an employee as she passed me, and I smiled. No "hello" or "good afternoon", she didn't even crack a smile. Is it THAT terrible of a place that the employees feel compelled to ignore customers? The cosmetics/jewelry ladies sounded friendly as I heard them talking with one another, and asking a customer if she needed help when she was looking at something in the case. The clothing sections weren't quite the chaotic mess today as they were my last visit a couple weeks ago. They were still quite a mess though with items barely hanging on, or already on the floor, tables were mostly in order with some things out of place (presumably by customers). My last criticism: the layout. Why on earth would you split women's this way? Most of it is to one side of the store, with cosmetics/jewelry down the middle (as most dept stores do), but then petites and womens intimates are on the opposite side of the store. Mens is centered in the back of the store and the shoe department is front left as you walk in, with womens accessories just behind it (along with the petite/intimates behind/next to that). The little bit of children's wear they have is tucked back behind men's to the left corner, and the little bit of linens/housewares opposite corner. It is such an odd and inefficient layout. I've been to other Belks (one huge 2-story and same size as this) and neither had such a layout nor issues with organizing and housekeeping, and staff at least said hi or smiled, or asked if you needed help. This place needs an overhaul on many levels...except deals. The deals...
Read moreI was in town for a funeral for a family member and me and 2 other family members came into Belk of waynesville to buy funeral attire for the deceased as well as ourselves. We were all Belk card holders, in fact my mother has the elite card. After choosing over $200 worth of merchandise, I was in absolute disbelief at how horrible one of the cashiers treated us. There were 2 cashiers that day, and about 3 customers ahead of us, no customers behind us. The cashier with lighter colored hair scolded us for waiting in line. Then openly complained about us “blocking” the walkway area in front of the cash registers loudly to her current customer. There is no other place to wait except amongst the clothes themselves. My mother is 71 years old and had a cart. And there was nobody behind us or walking through the entire time the 3 of us checked out with the other dark haired cashier. It made me want to drop my merchandise and walk out. I don’t recommend this Belk to anyone. I will stick to my hometown, if I even continue to shop there at all. Pitiful behavior from an employee!! She...
Read moreI love writing great reviews, however... I just had to post a review about my experience at this store. Upon arriving to the Waynesville Belk store and approaching the jewelry counter to have links taken from my mothers watch, as well as mine...the first individual was very rude and would not remove the links because she "didn't know how to do that." From there I was directed to the fine jewelry counter, after arriving there to see that there was one customer, I patiently waited in line. The lady that works the fine jewelry counter was/is EXTREMELY rude and would not help us...she stated that she "didn't have time for that." (Just a reminder that the watch was purchased from Belk) This was not the first unpleasant experience that I have had with the lady that works in the fine jewelry. I love shopping at this store, however I will not be purchasing any jewelry from this Belk any longer. Kindness goes...
