Sorry to say, that since Dave sold to McNeely, the service in Waynesville is not the same. When the staff starts to chastise you for their inability to solve and issue, they get annoyed at the customer because of their linear thinking. Their inability to think outside the box hinders their problem solving skills. However, went to their store in Canton and in 5 minutes, they were able to hook me up with correct connections. They are also more friendly and knowledgeable at the Canton location. It occurred to me later, if the floor staff at Waynesville were smarter, they wouldn't be working there. The front of the house people are cordial and attentive. A credit to what made Hometown Hardware what it used to be when Dave owned it!!! EDIT: Up from one star because of the general managers prompt attention. Right after I posted this review, the general manager contacted me. His name is A.J. Rowell and we talk for about 20 minutes. He seemed genuinely interested in my experience and apologized profusely. He explained that since they took over these new stores there have been some growing pains but assured me he would speak with the associates that I had dealt with. I give him props for reaching out; only time will tell if the service at the Waynesville location will get better after his planned retraining...

A man about my age (60ish or so) began to help me but wasn’t sure where the items were. A younger employee (David I would find out later) overheard me asking and knew exactly where they were However, the older gentleman must not have listened to him because he took me on a wild goose chase all around the store and even left me standing in the middle of the store by myself again as he continued to search. Finally another young man, Jason, saw me wondering around and together he and David made the rest of my experience very nice as they were both very helpful and knew where things were and walked me to the items! The older gentleman needs to learn how to take care of customers and not run off and...
Read moreFantastic Old-school Small-Town Hardware store... With a surprising and fantastic variety of tools, products, adhesives and Gerber Brand Knives as well as a good variety of Sharpening Stones, paints and everything you might need pretty much. I am impressed with their rare and hard to find specific items,as well as the really great prices on common items, usually a bit more pricey even in the big name stores! Also they had great and helpful employees whom will assist you in locating items, etc. I highly...
