Exceptional Service and Memorable Dining at Red Fox – A Must-Visit in Waynesville
From the moment we walked into Red Fox, the experience was exceptional. Our hostess, Emily, greeted us with warmth and professionalism. She was attentive in setting expectations—clearly outlining the wait time, seating options, and the option to enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited. Her approach set the tone for what would become an outstanding evening.
At the bar, Jason delivered top-tier service. He took the time to ask about our general preferences and, based on that, offered thoughtful recommendations from the local brew selections (the only offerings, which we appreciated). His knowledge and attentiveness were impressive—he even suggested a flight of beers tailored to our tastes. We ultimately settled on the Boojum Light, which hit the spot perfectly. We also couldn’t help but notice the Boojum-logo glasses and, like true tourists, asked if we could purchase them. Jason didn’t miss a beat, providing us with multiple options and ensuring we left with the exact glasses we were enjoying. His friendly and knowledgeable demeanor truly elevated our bar experience.
Our server, Mary Etta, was equally delightful. She was bright, personable, and effortlessly engaging. Her menu recommendations were spot-on—we started with the Short Rib Eggrolls (a must-try), followed by the Shrimp and Chips for my wife and the Pesto Chicken with sautéed veggies for myself. Every dish exceeded expectations. Mary Etta consistently checked in on us throughout the meal and even sealed the deal with a decadent slice of chocolate cake to go. Her wit and warmth added a personal touch that made our meal all the more enjoyable.
Red Fox delivered more than just a meal—it provided a full-service experience that blended excellent food, stellar service, and genuine hospitality. If you’re ever in the Waynesville or Maggie Valley area, I wholeheartedly recommend stopping in for a visit. You’ll be treated to a memorable evening by a team that clearly takes pride in what they do.
Thank you to everyone at Red Fox—from the bottom of our hearts—for such a...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere was very nice (really good AC unit - so you may want to bring a jacket if you can't stand cold air blowing on you) - decor was impeccable - clean, nice bathrooms. Good service - a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry and didn't really mind. The food was the kicker - the menu sounds great but the reality is, they over season themselves out of a 5* review. My mom loves fried green tomatoes and maple bacon - but there was a very strong pesto on the sandwich and she couldn't get past two bites. Our appetizer dish was our fave (4* for the pork egg rolls). I had the chicken and waffles sandwich, which isn't really a sandwich as it's really thick. It was good but make sure you get the sauces on the side...chicken was a little over-cooked/stringy, but good flavor. It had two sauces - one was super hot and spicy and the other was just syrup. I had the rosemary fries - which were good, but shouldn't require a $2 upcharge from regular fries. They were a bit heavy on the rosemary - I didn't mind, but my mom tried it and felt it was overpowering. The tortilla soup (not sure of the name) was good to me, but did have a lot of cilantro. I want to come back and try the dinner menu. I feel like this place has great potential but they definitely need to scale back the spices. They are supposed to enhance your food, not take them over. My advice is to ask for anything you can to be on the side so you can determine your volume of flavor/spices.
As a side note - I feel any business being reviewed should have the curtesy to respond. It seems like bad management practice to ignore reviews. I've seen some business only respond to great reviews and ignore negative ones or respond to all or ignore all. I pay attention to that aspect as well as the reviews themselves when picking restaurants or services for hire. It's sad there is no response to any of the reviews here. It could be valuable information to help a business grow and improve. What manager or owner...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for lunch today on a whim! She googled places and this came up and since we had never been, we figured why not!
Man. Whomever the chef is that designed the menu, is a genius. The flavors in everything we had absolutely complimented each other and didn’t cancel one another out, sometimes when you get really creative in mixing flavors regardless if it’s wet or dry, sometimes it is bland because they don’t work together but maaan NOT here! 👏
First and foremost so I can get this out of the way, the only reason this is not 5 stars across the board is because when we walked in the smell of seafood is very strong and if you don’t/can’t eat seafood like me, it’s a bit abrasive/nauseating. When the food got in front of us, I just indulged in that as it smelled as good as it tasted.
We started with the short rib egg rolls. I’d legit order two of these and call it dinner too if I’m being honest. It had chow chow, greens, pimento cheese, a blueberry BBQ drizzle and Alabama white for dipping!
I ended up with the Maple Bourbon Hot Chicken & Waffle Sandwich and fries, something as simple as French fries were literally cooked to perfection in not just texture, but of course flavor so the sandwich was amazing!
My wife got the Red/White/Blue burger and rosemary fries and that was a special being it’s Memorial Day weekend, and she absolutely loved it.
Our server was Connor and he was super polite, knowledgeable on anything we asked and nice to chat with too.
