Smoky Mountain Cinema — Local services in Waynesville

Being the only cinema decently close to Maggie Valley and Waynesville, this is definitely a good option. This cinema may look small and maybe a little run down, but they really do a good job of showing an example of how looks may be deceiving. I was very impressed with how fair the prices were at this theater versus prices at a major chain like AMC or Regal. The inside lobby is small but has everything you would need. The rooms are different sizes, I was in the medium-sized room for watching Jumanji 2, this room was impressively good in terms of sound quality and the picture quality. There are some more rooms all very close to one another. They have a much smaller room and a much larger room. The seats were comfortable and allowed you to slightly recline back, not fully. The sound and screen were great quality, as mentioned before, but during my movie I was able to hear other movies adjacent to my screening room. The lights also were not turned off halfway through the trailers and they play the same three commercials over and over again until the trailers start. Considering till now we only had the strand for movies this is a upgrade for going to see a flick however if your a big movie buff don't expect too much here not much has changed other than the front booth and sound upgrades and some renovation in the theater itself. The ceilings still need some work but it's still close to how it was before with the floor being just at a slight slope no stadium seating & the seats are still not very comfortable especially for a 6 year old. The sound is much better than before gets really loud and you can feel the booms and bangs but at times it was almost too loud and this is coming from someone who loves watching movies with Dolby Atmos surround sound at high levels. All In all I wasn't blown away however we will go in the future as long as they play good movies, i don't miss having to drive 40 mins to Asheville or 25...

I was slightly weary about this theater after reading reviews but decided to try it anyways. I was surprised by how clean and nice everything is. It may not have the top of the line equipment like the Regal Grande but it gets the job done and fixed some things that others have complained about. The lighting is much darker during the movie, it's very clean, and the prices are average to match every other theater. Bonus points for me, it's 10 minutes away from my house. The sound system is great with perfect balance and doesn't blow your ear drums out. The employees are wonderful and nice and love to chat if you have a minute to spare. My wife and I had a great experience and will definitely be heading back for our next movie. Definitely check this place out and show...
