You could tell the restaurant was still in the process of opening back up. Back half of resturant was dark. You have to place your order at the host stand before you are ever allowed to sit down. Price of food is too high in relation to other Spanish resturants. I would not recommend raising the price ( over heard a conversation today between workers) after tip bill was 17.00 for a chicken quesadilla, order of rice, and a tea with no refills.
This is in response to the owners response. I only received 1 quesadilla not 2. Secondly I saw a total of 3 people working the day I came in, and the only thing yall were focused on was the burning smell coming from the food warmer. All of your response is absolutely false and if you want better reviews give better service. Once again other than. To bring me my drink, chips and salsa, and my food there was no other contact with my server. Finally, I travel all over the state and eat at numerous restaurants daily. Your prices are high even...
Read moreWe recently rediscovered El pobre restaurant for the first time since they closed during the pandemic.
We have ate at Papa's & and Beer and Los Amigos numerous times since then.
Everything was awesome!.. the quesadilla Rica, beef and bean burrito, enchilada, beef taco. ..
The grilled chicken is cooked and seasoned perfectly. Unlike Papa's and Beer bland, dry grilled chicken
I know good food. I used to have my own restaurant
The chips and salsa are the best in comparison to the other two restaurants. The chips are thin and crispy.
The cheese sauce is awesome
Loved the refried beans. The only shortcoming was the rice was a little on the mushy side. This was probably an exception. Everything else made up for it.
The night we went they were short-staffed and we had to order at the counter and our food was brought out on paper plates with plastic utensils. The food and great service made up for it.
Thanks Ell Pobre! You're number...
Read moreThis is our favorite Mexican restaurant in town (Papa's and Beer is supposed to be coming soon, though) for these reasons:
Food is ALWAYS delicious. So often with cheap Mexican joints flavor goes by the wayside. The food here is seasoned and spiced with intention and ingredients seem fresh (veggies). Enchiladas Rancheras is the bomb.
Price is low. More expensive than fast food, but still a cheap meal with plenty of serving.
The place looks clean and well cared for. We're far from picky and will eat at some seedy places for an "authentic" experience or whatever but its nice to have a go to for a pleasant dinner. Zero fancy but comfortable.
Service is usually fine. The last time we were there it was off. Food coming out was slow and little attention was paid; I'm not sure if we got our water refilled.
I'm reading what I've written and it seems far from a glowing review so...Great place for good...
