Have been keeping bees for over 10 years as a hobby. Last fall I had a visit from two bears that distroyed the three hives I had. Got em on the trail came. I have bought packages from H&TH in the past and had success so I returned to them and I purchesd 3 packages of bees and brought them home and loded them the same day. Each hive was loaded exactly as recommeded in the video provided by H&TH at their web page. I put the feeders on and checked after 48 hrs to insure the Queens were out of their cages. Four Weeks later I inspected the hives for brood production. The first one only hand spoty drone layed. A drone laying queen will lay drones because either she didn't mate properly, has been damaged in some way or she has run out of sperm. An old queen is likely to start laying more and more drones as the sperm runs out and often the bees will construct queencells in any case as they know something is wrong with her. I feel like I was sold an old queen. The secound hive had no queen activity what so ever. Its as if no queen was in the package. On the bright side the 3rd hive was going gangbusters. I know that H&TH does not garuntee their packages. I have requeened the other two hives with queens I purchased from another supplyer and am hoping for the best. But I do not consider two thirds of my hives failing a successful purchas given the cost of a package of bees. I will not be using H&TH...

I called and was informed that the queens were certified layers before they were shipped out, and there was nothing they would do for me. I was offered to buy a new queen for $37.00. I asked them why would I want to have another queen that was of poor quality? They told me the queens they sell separately come from a different source and are higher quality than what they sell with the packages. I will not purchase from them again. I asked around and most places that sell package bees will honor a...
